Insurance for a real weekend classic driver ?

I have Hagerty. I stopped using Grundy after they couldn’t figure out how to remove a Mustang off of my policy even though I sent them a notification when I sold it. This was two years after I sold the car plus i didn’t list it in any of my renewals. Long story short they had to issue me a new policy and then the state came after me claiming I was driving my cars without insurance. FYI, it took me a year from start to finish to get the Mustang removed from Grundy’s system and that was 3 years from when they were officially notified that I no longer owned that car. And Grundy is owned by Philadelphia Insurance.

I have the application for Hagerty but got a question. It ask if I had any claims in the last 3 years. I put in a claim under Comprehensive because someone idiot damaged my car and did not have insurance. It was not Collision. So what will Hagerty do? Deny my application?

Sounds like the same **** Dennis went through in CA. His wasn't a collector car either.

First thing I'd do is, get rid of Allstate. They handle claims out of India, while laying off thousands of Americans. Just as bad is Progressive. Two companies I wouldn't give a nickel to.

I vowed i would never give a nickel to geico decades ago, when i found out that they donated radar equipment to the california hwy patrol, so they could issue more speeding tickets, and geico could raise rates.

Still never have, never will.

That's only if you live there, what about the other 49 states?

Grundy all day some jackass ran into the rear tail light of my 67 GTX. They where great. sympathetic...no hassle, they told me don't talk to the other guys insurance comp.we will take care of it, even went after the douche nozzle to get my deductible back.had it towed one time bill as was covered 100% GRUNDY ;-)

Im not sure i understand the question. At the time, i lived in california, and i decided i hated geico. Whether or not they donated to other states, i didnt know or care. Still dont.
Still not gonna give geico a nickel.
Edit: at the time, i think ca.hwy patrol was prohibited from using radar, it was an attempt by geico to force a policy change.

I doubt it - especially under the circumstances. I find them to be very easy to deal with.

Hagerty asks several questions about modifications that other companies don't, and will raise your rates accordingly. One of the questions was 'have you added 50HP or more' or something like that. Added $200/yr to the quote.

Hagerty has no issues with you driving your cars when ever you like ( We put about 3500 miles on our '69 and '70 this Summer). Only stipulation is having "regular" drivers with their own policy.

Same here. I drive my car a lot. Not every day mind you but we are out in it just about 2 or 3 times a week , every week. Ive put almost 1600 miles in it and have only had it since early Oct of 2020

Actually driving it to Phoenix Az this Saturday for a mopar only show and shine

Hagerty was great! I had it on my 07 superbee yes it's not old but it's a collector I was aloud to drive it 5000 a year . Had $25000 coverage on it and sadly totaled it out they towed it home. they sent there adjuster asap he agreed totalled they wrote me a check and said we will sell car back to you for $1100 so yeah I bought it for the motor guy came by bout car for $5500 that weekend he fixed it back up nice !
Only thing that took awhile was getting the salvage title but when I get something else I'm definitely using hagerty again

Just switched from Hagerty to Grundy. Rates for 3 cars went up hundreds with no claims, no explanation and they wouldn’t match Grundy. Same coverage for hundreds less. Bye.

Weird, my coverage premium actually went down on my last renewal in May and I added the Dart for full agreed value ($55K) coverage for a measely $198 Canuck/year !

A lady with no insurance hit my corvette a few years back. Grundy didn’t give me any grief and don’t even ask where I was going. I now have my Ws6 with them and am quite happy. The only issue I have with them is they won’t insure my 93’ Dodge W250. Not because of its condition or year, but because I carry things in the bed. Weird......

Hagerty quote was $675, Condon Skelly was $411, both with $45k declared value.

Keep in mind...
Hagerty is just a broker, the actual insurance is outsourced...
But I do agree, my experience with Hagerty has been positive..

Just my $0.02..
