Am i crazy (Driving 69 Satellite from Kentucky to Oregon)?

Not every day. I went up and back once a week. Total of 4 times as I recall. Honestly it wasn't bad other than scraping the inside of the windshield, the chothes kept me warm and I was used to sledding anyway. I think I was about 25 at that time and you just do what you have to.

Sounds like the Satellite is about 1/3 of the way home?

960 miles left to go out of 2200! Currently in Cheyenne Wyoming.

The first day I picked it up there were brake problems. Bad and dangerous pull to the right! It was scary in a big car like that. Got that fixed though with the help of Troy. It’s probably couple pages back where you can read more about it. He really saved me.

The only big leak is from the power steering. When you’d stop for very long you could see it on the ground. First time I checked it was almost empty. Added some ps fluid with stop leak. Still leaks a little but not like before.

On the first days drive everything was going good. But all of a sudden it wouldn’t shift to 3rd. That had me real worried. Pulled into a little town to check things out. Fluid seemed fine so I wasn’t sure what else to do. Then I remembered someone mentioning kick down linkage on this thread. I jiggled it and it seemed stick and bind up. Didn’t seem right to me but I have zero experience with autos. Sprayed the linkage joints real good with wd40 and the linkage started springing back like I figured it probably should. That did the trick, got 3rd back.

A few naysayers early on, but now it's turned into an epic road trip with great photos on the way through.

Just outside Laramie Wyoming. It’s a pretty good pull coming up from Cheyenne and then add in the headwinds. She definitely felt a little sluggish but is making it. Just a little oxygen deprivation I guess.

Your adventure's pictures would make a GREAT screen saver on your home tv, bigger the screen, the better. Permission from "the boss" MAY BE required. LIVING A DREAM SAM!! THANKS FOR TAKING US ALONG!
 
What an adventure, if I was a bit younger I would do it too.

This trip shows what is possible!! I bet many of the young guns think an old car with points, manual steering and brakes, etc (NO GPS!?) can not go across country. Everyone can read a road map right!??

Dec. 7, 1941......My dad was driving from Ca. to Ga to marry my mom, in a 37? Buick. Some where in La. Then the radio announced something to the effect of "The Navy Base at Pearl Harbour, Hi. was just bombed by the Japanese Imperial Navy, all military personnel are required to promptly turn to base". He made the trip to Ga. and back to Hi., married tha next morning and on way back to Ca.at 1 pm. No interstate! No McDonalds. No radar detector, but.... he did not need one!

that’s an awesome story. I don’t normally rely on phone maps but they helped out on the rural roads from Bowling Green up to Champaign Illinois. I guess I should have prepared better and brought a real map just in case the phone died. I was born long enough ago I know how to read one!
 
I think she needs a butt lift. Getting a little saggy. Not a Brazillian, just a little one! What do you guys think?

Thought that at first glance, but figured the trunk was loaded with all those tools and spare parts you sent down in preperation. Just a nice looking car. How'd you find it?

depends on your roads back home, and also what you like

you could loosen the torsion bars adjustment bolts to drop the front and level her out to see if you like the low look

Should help with the wind and with handling a ton supposedly; but wait till you get home to mess with stuff

Completely badass what you’re doing
