Starsky and Hutch Torino

Just MO, the body style got ozzy looking as did some GM and Mopars during that era with the huge safety bumpers, not discounting the radical loss of HP. The earlier Torino's looked nice...

My mom had a 73 for awhile, it was yellow like a lemon and really was a lemon.

Travel back in time to the days of wild clothes, collars that could make you airborne, colors that could make ya go blind, and 250% polyester...shopping for a new car that's on the dealer's lots.
A '74 Torino.........or Challenger? I selected the latter (actually a '73 demo since money was tight). I removed the rubber tits when I got it home.

I liked the show a lot. Not so much the car. But it sure seems popular. If that's what you like I say grab them.

Decades ago there was a 73 F/S at a swap meet in California.
351 CJ 4 speed, radio delete, bumper guard delete, with pie pans. A true sleeper. Not the car in pics, but one that is close. The 73 351 CJ was fords last respectable HP motor.
I'm not such a big fan of the starsky and hutch Torino, but I do like the novelty of it! I will likely pass on them as I have too many unfinished projects.

And then there are these GT Mercury counterparts.
429 4speed

If it isn’t a mudstain, cobra, GT or something real unique but fast there isn’t a lot out there for them nor much love unfortunately . I’ve seen so many diamond jubilee t birds and cougars etc get turned into a derby cars. I derbied a LTD 429/C6 and under 80 k miles and gave it away.. it was given to us .. Ford and mercury are a lot different than mopar as far as love goes, you have fairlane and baby bird crowd and the old F1s but that pretty much sums up the excitement unless you count the ranchero and the car from family vacation. Idk they are some different critters. I don’t dislike them, I just can’t believe how many folks won’t touch them. There are some clean examples left too.

Crush them both and post the video on YouTube.

One is a original factory ford and the other is a fully loaded PW,buckets console, sun roof car. Could make one out of the two. I think ford made about 1200 S/H torinos.
They are F/S. I'm thinking about it! I already have a running 76 low miles 460 and disc brake rear end. Hmmm

Crush them both and post the video on YouTube.

Yeah....Why not take one and address all the weaknesses? Purge all the unnecessary weight, stiffen up the unibody and suspension, install a Coyote mill and leave the outside looking as period correct as seen on TV.

It isn't a Mopar...yeah, I know. It IS still a TV car with some fan following.

the actual Starsky & Hutch car was kind of cool
watched the show in HS, not much 'real' performance stuff
in the mid 70's

I prefer the earlier years (72 & earlier) of Grand Torino or Torinos
the later years got too bulbous/fugly like most cars after 72

The effort would be better spent on a '71 to '74 B-body which are not only better looking than the S&H Torino, but better cars.

BTW, S&H really means S&H green stamps.

I liked my 71 GT. It was the second cleanest "old car" I've ever had.
My current Satellite is the cleanest.
I was not however, impressed with the 351C-4V.

A friend in HS had a 72 2D notch with a 302-2 and that thing would lay a 175 foot one wheel patch.

I like the 72 "jet intake" grill.

Didn't the unibody platform the went all the way to 77 start with the 72?

...and for those members that don't like the "different" wheel arches on 73/74 Satellites-

Are you OK with the 72 and up torino? They are totally different.

How about the 1970/71 cutlass?
