One of the heads has what appears to be a Heli-coil insert. It's located at the rear facing the firewall.
It's on a 70 383.

AND YOUR QUESTION IS. ?????? Plus how about a few pix to illustrate your question......One of the heads has what appears to be a Heli-coil insert. It's located at the rear facing the firewall.

Ok. On a 50 year old casting no doubt a little acceptable repair was made. What is your concern????????????????One of the heads has what appears to be a Heli-coil insert. It's located at the rear facing the firewall.

Lol, how many get a pipe plug...............You lucky devil. Not everyone will get a Heli-coil there during their lifetime.
....I’ve seen it in that exact place on a number of different heads.
I was thinking it was a casting issue such as porosity/void causing a pin leak. The plug might be the fix to save the casting. Lol, although I'm curious, I'm not going to remove it!
