67 R/T at Mecum Auction

As an owner of a 1967 Coronet R/T, I watched with interest as another 1967 R/T crossed the Mecum Auction block this afternoon. The car was equipped with a 426 Hemi, 4-speed, and 3.54-geared Dana 60 rear end. It rolled on Redline tires mounted on Magnum 500 rims. The red paint looked flawless, as did the black interior. This R/T was bid to $125,000, but did not meet the reserve and did not sell. Later on, an exceptional black1965 Buick Riviera GS., with 425, 2X4 barrel sold for $150,000.

67s don't get the love. I saw a 67 GTX 426 hemi last year sell for $77k. I think a step down on condition of your example. But the point? One year newer? 50%+ more value?

It only reached 105k on the block, 66 and 67 cars are hard pressed to bring big money. I’d like to have a discussion with the guy who paid 125k for an 86 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, wtf?

I had my eye on that one and was wondering what it would hammer at .
From what I could see , it was a decent car for that money

For those of us that missed that featured car? A pic or two? But if a solid #2 '68 for $44k? That is a good buy. Even if auto column shift? If 4-speed? VERY GOOD BUY!

This is possible. I used to do the BJ auctions. You never know what people will bid on.Or what day it crosses the block.
I was dumbfounded as a Purple 57 Chevy 4 door with flames painted front fenders and basic chrome wheels.It was like it was straight out of the late 60's.
It hammered at $150K. ?? Right after a Duster 340 4 speed,Orange very correct car. It could not make it passed $50K.
The same day I watched a 70 Challenger, Brown 318 basic rusty quarters barn find non running, bring $36K. Never thought it would have mustered $10K.

Almost $50k for a Duster 340 is all the money. He should have taken it. They were under $30k just 2 years ago.

Those fenders aren't the easiest to find without dents or rust in that area, but for the kind of money they must have spent on the rest of it...
