Anti freeze leak and Barrs sealer question

So I had a very small antifreeze leak on the passenger side rear lower corner where the head meets the block , I recently changed the anti freeze and really haven’t drove the car all that much being winter . Today I took it out for a short ride , parked and noticed the leak is worse while sitting.
No over heating, no anti freeze in the oil , no oil in the antifreeze. No burning of antifreeze. My question is , has anyone used Barrs or like kind of sealant added to the antifreeze and had good luck for a fix? anyone against using sealants and why. What was your personal experiences if you have . 440 BTY

anyone ever use the tablets also ?
 
Don’t personally recommend using any stop leak or other remedies.
Your just postponing properly fixing the problem.
 
I’ve used Barrs. I’ve heard that K-Seal is the latest and greatest available technology.
 
Years ago on the 440. The weep did stop with no ill effects. Foggy details but it was not at the same place as yours.

Good to know , I’m on the fence about trying it, since it’s an external leak I’m thinking it would work , if I had any other symptoms, like over heating or water oil mixing I would not
 
There's a possibility it could foul your radiator. Happened to a friend of mine. Best to take it apart and fix it correctly.
 
...or your heater core. Use sealers on the car you don't mind walking away from when the plug pops and leaves you stranded. Fixing it means you don't have to wonder when the plug will pop out.

I have used it in older daily driver engines with high miles. No issues from it. I also used recommended K-seal which wasn't any better from my experience. I was using it in a high mileage Neon that had a blown head gasket. I have read on this site that some folks add a little dab of it to the cooing system after engine work. Some mentioned it to help tiny weeping from new freeze out plugs & such.

Good to know , I actually bought the Barrs and some new orange 50/50 antifreeze, I’m just on the fence , but it maybe worth a try
 
Proper fix is best next for temp fix aluma seal as it will wash out with a good flush
Pepper also work just not as long
 
As "kids" we just used a teaspoon of instant porridge. It'll just float around until it hits the leak and expand trying to get out.

I also had a neon head gasket problem. This cured it completely. I had meant it as a temporary repair, but it was still doing the job several months later, right up to the day the car got stolen.

Years ago, I was doing a job on a piece of Mitsubishi crap. And the repairs got so involved on a dual OHC POS engine, for the coolant weep, that I (for the first time ever) gave up on the job. I added stop leak. Fixed.
 
Don’t use any leak stop crap, it’ll plug your heater core. Have you checked the freeze plugs on the front of your heads, I had a leak there that I fixed.

Lots of engine builders regularly put some sort of "leak preventer" in as a precautionary thing. My personal favorite is K seal. Nothing else works like it, read the directions carefully. It can be left in the system, or as I use it, which is temporary.
I've seen it stop persistent VERY SMALL leaks. Fix the problem first if possible, at last resort use K seal.
And I've had no heater core issues using it either.
 
From a professional stand point I don't recommend using a sealer as mentioned. it's just a large band aid to covers up everything and never really fixes the problem.

On the other side of the coin, the only time in my life I used a sealer was three years ago in my work minivan (house work, yard, building, dump, etc) 3.8 V6 had a coolant leak at the back, was from the rear head gasket. No way I'm pulling this thing apart. I used the K-seal at the recommendation of my parts store guy and not only did it stop the leak its been leak free since.

Is the van fix, no way, is the leak stopped, yes, till a bigger piece of the headgasket cracks and spits out. Do I care, not really because it's my local work van.

So, in my 68 GTS, no way, in my old 28 Model A hot rod, no way. In my daily driver minivan, no way. in a **** box dump vehicle that get driven about 500 miles a year, no problem.
