70 Charger R/T SE Daytona sunroof project is starting soon.

I cleaned the protective cosmoline coating off the new front brake rotors and painted in the fins and the hub areas with high heat silver paint. I hate seeing brand new parts getting rust on them. I use the 73/74 larger diameter spindles and one piece unicast brake rotors. They are way cheaper to buy than the two piece rotors used on 70 to 72 B and E body cars, and are readily available at almost any auto parts store.

It looks like the Daytona project is getting a roommate for the weekend! My friend needs to use the scissor lift,so the Daytona project is going to be sharing its stall with the 71 Charger R/T.

I got the 71 Charger R/T back on the scissor lift. Hopefully I can get back to work on the Daytona project. I went to a swap meet at a local racetrack yesterday and the weather was amazing. This is the last car event of the season, and usually it's 35 degrees out when we go to this event. It was 73 degrees out yesterday! Today my friend is dropping off his 71 Charger R/T 440 Sixpack 4 speed car to get the final assembly done on it. I am going over to help him get it unloaded and into the shop. Then my friend Gary is coming by and he is going to do some panel alignment to my 71 Charger R/Tthen we are going to the Chinese buffet!

I bought my wife a factory promo model of the Chrysler Turbine car. My wife and her sister and brothers got to ride in the Chrysler Turbine car at the Chrysler Pavilion at the 1965 New York world's fair. I saw the factory promo model on a table with a bunch of model cars, after looking it over I determined that it was a factory promo model and bought it for 20 bucks. The last one I saw for sale the guy wanted $300 for it.

My friends Gary Pam Rick and Al came over after Dave and I dropped off the 71 Charger R/T and Gary Rick and Al spent about six hours aligning the body panels on my 71 Charger R/T. Pam went up in the loft and worked cleaning up and sorting parts, while I finished modifying the wheel dolly to fit the Daytona project. Everyone was working like a well oiled machine! It was amazing. Then we went to the Chinese buffet! It was a great day with great friends!

My friend Rick can be seen in the latest Mopar Action magazine polishing the wheel on his 68 Charger with the train of his wife's wedding gown!

My next adventure is to get the Charger on the front wheel dolly. I would do it tonight, but I am going to check out a Superbird and Road Runner convertible, a guy I know just purchased. I have been working on the roof of the car trailer the last few days, and I had to clean up the leaves in the yard and do the honey do list. Hopefully by next week I'll be back to work on the Daytona project.

I just got back from seeing the Superbird, what an amazing car! 440 U code 4 speed, 4.10 Dana 60 super track pack car. 26 inch radiator, power steering cooler, power disc brakes with the Nascar style master cylinder with the brake lines on the engine side. If not for the disturbed paint from someone doing backyard body work in the 80s it could have been a survivor car. 96 plus percent rust free, stored in door most of its life. Original fender tag all numbers matched except for a service block that was correctly dated for the car. Whoever bought the car new immediately exploded the original engine and it was replaced with a 440 service block within the date the car was built. It was a time capsule! Other than two spots on the rear quarters at the rocker lead joints, and a quarter sized spot on the dog leg of the right fender the car appears rust free.

Before I sanded the roof, I put a battery in my van,and it started right up! The 360 runs really good! It has been sitting behind the garage since I started putting in the lifts last spring. It was covered with dirt and debris and a green film from the trees, so I scrubbed all the crap off of it. It looks good now.

I sanded the roof for two hours and it still looks the same!

Guy who painted my 72 didn't like how the primer was on the roof of mine (previous owner primed it), removed primer, RUST: he had a heeluva time removing the rust: 1st thing I did was sand & "convert" the inside roof, "c" pillar was a mess with rust, TRIED hand sanding, not much room, then used TONS of rust converter; primed it all then painted it. Came out pretty damn good imo. I KNOW YOUR PAIN PETE!!

After two more hours of sanding the roof with 60 grit sandpaper, I got the rust off the roof and primed it with SEM rust converting etch primer.

I got the hood off the car an I am getting ready to venture into the engine compartment and firewall graft to convert the engine bay to a non air conditioned car. I have a complete firewall section from a 4 speed air grabber hood car, as noted by the hole for the vacuum lines above the heater core holes. I am only going to section in the right side from the middle over. No need to change the whole thing when the one in the car has no rust.
I did this in my Jigsaw Charger.

It won't be long before I am able to see the stars on a moon lit night!
