I have about the worst luck getting my car/truck repaired anywhere.

It's almost like the shop gives my car/truck to the least qualified technician. Technician? That's not what I'd call them. I did have a drive shaft center bearing making noise, this was replaced three years ago, by another shop. I have a bad shoulder and can't hold that shaft up and start the bolts, so someone else needs to do it again. I chose one of the more known places. I'm not even going to mention the price he charged me for the work, that was an out right crime. OK, so I paid the bill and everything sounded good. Till a couple of days ago I had to drive I 75 North out of town. That's when I got the message from that bearing the shop installed. The truck started to vibrate at sixty, you know unlike a tire vibration you can feel it through the whole truck. When I got home I took a look and I'm sure they didn't put the two shafts back together, at the spline like the were before they put that bearing in. It makes a difference as the two shafts are balanced together. I'm taking the truck back, and I'm leery I'm going to get an excuse it wasn't anything they did.

Yes it's called u joint phasing. They have to be aligned

Just wait until you have that type of thing happen with the medical or financial profession.

The most valuable lesson I got from my time in law school was that folks with professional licenses and certifications can be utter morons. Next door neighbor in married student housing told me the same thing applied to the medical school he was attending. Of course the consequences get worse as you move up the food chain. I was able to retire comfortably because I never used the services of a financial planner.

After two other garages refused to look at it, I went at it today. Tied the front shaft from turning with a ratchet strap, after measuring both sides of the front shaft yoke, so it wouldn't turn. I noticed a slight difference with how the rear shaft yoke was oriented, to the front, but after separating them I found this must be the way it was designed, the slip shaft wouldn't change it, no matter how I removed, turned and reinstalled. Finally realized something. All three grease fittings previously lined up in the past. I should have figured that out right off, because service the truck myself. So drove it up to seventy and all is good once again! Even called the first garage that did the work to tell them what I found. And no, he didn't say he would compensate me for my time. Fat chance on that one. I worked the first fifteen years of my work life as a mechanic, so I totally can relate to problems in servicing them.
