Any experience with S and J engines

All the local machine shops in Tucson are backed up with work. Best case I found was about 7 months backlog with no promises on delivery or completion date. Three shops refuse to take on any new work at the present time. Get this, one shop now only does small block Chevy rebuilds.

My retired mechanic mentioned S and J engines. His experience is with newer (like early 2000s) Toyota and Ford V6 rebuilds, and no issues with their services.

I thought the quote was reasonable, but it still is a gamble.

Take a look at this sweet Plymouth 383 CID from S&J Engines. These guys are the best builders around! --

What about up the highway in Phoenix? There are a lot of great Mopar guys up there, and I would rather buy from a localish shop than someone 1/2 across the country. I had nothing but problems from an engine I bought from CME and they wanted me to foot the bill for transporting the engine back and forth and for the parts to fix their brand new engine. Never again.

Racing Head Service in the 90’s …..Street motor , no racing….
Incredible! Cracked Crank ! Trashed Motor !!
Sent crank back as proof on my dime , they
Returned with another used one / cut 20thou
It’s no wonder they’re not around any more as far as I know …….
We live & we Learn don’t we …..

Kelly's Machine in Phoenix (good rep for general work..just a little slow)

S&S in mesa, took 2 engines there, a 318, and a 215 olds, no problems with either engine.
