They can’t even supply their dealers with engines but are selling trucks/suv’s with that engine and let’s not even get started on the joint venture 10spd automatic that is failing !
 
I really loved my 2019 Camaro and if I wasn’t trying to be Mr Sensible when I was laid off I would have kept it, if not til this day at least a lot longer. Not related to the subject but I got my job like 2 weeks after selling it and I was pissed.
Anyway it had a transmission issue with hunting RPM while cruising, problem apparently was GM went to a less expensive tranny fluid that didn’t play well with the converter during lock up and the simple fix was a flush and switch to Mobile fluid. I feel like the same geniuses are in charge of the current debacle.

Ha ! I lived and personally experienced the GM diesel debacle back in the 80's. History repeats itself.
I remember that very well! My dad used to buy Chevy pickups for work but bought Chrysler cars since 51. The pickups did ok but seems like there were always something wrong however minor. Yup, GM gave the diesel engine a black eye for sure.

Damaged connecting rods, black oil, overheating, and faulty crankshafts were previously identified as issues in a teardown of the L87 V8 engine, and at mileages that are unusually low for such issues.

I was there too at a GMC dealer. What a fiasco. We had around 2 dozen junk engines piled up behind the shop waiting for the parts rep to authorize them as warranty. (it was a audit thing) We took them to a local scrap yard and cashed in. That bought pizza and refreshments for our service meetings.

I heard that a local dealer would use a bay at the end of the shop and curtain it off so no one but specific techs could see what was going on when an engine was about to be replaced. Kinda reminds me of the Vega days with their lawn mower engines....

Back in 73 at Tech School, we sleeved a Vega block. First one on the planet. (LOL) We heated the block in a large oven we borrowed from Aviation and froze the sleeves with R12 Freon. They just dropped right in.

I've heard of some doing that.....and then the engine was great? I actually liked the looks of the Vega but bad news was out pretty quick. Never was a first gen buyer in the first year at least. Dad bought an 87 Dakota and I tried to talk him out of doing that but the truck turned out to be great! I ended up with it for several years until I bought my 92 V8 Dakota and gave the 87 to my FIL. Got it back when he passed away in 98 and then my oldest daughter took it over until she totaled it. It was still pretty nice until that happened....

It ran great. We put it in Bob Hall's wagon. He was one of the instructors.

6.2L GM Crankshaft quality control issues.
Almost like the crankshaft quality control issues that gave Hyundai / Kia a black eye on the Theata II engines.

I still have a few cans of R12 from K-Mart and I think the price sticker on them is like $0.51
In Home A/C the 410A refrigerant is now being phased out because it is worse for the environment (global warming) than the old R22 that was bad for the ozone layer.
New A/C units are either R32 or R454B said to be "mildly" flammable. Estimates I read are saying the changes will make the cost of HVAC units increase around 30%?

well, a 4 year old truck, since its a 2021 in question, and it probably took that long to get GM to do anything about it and/or they replaced the engine more than once and it failed again.

my cousin, '21 Z71, windowed the block under 10,000 miles, took GM some time to replace the engine. Well, that engine bit the dust at the same mileage. They were going to replace the engine again, he told them no, you just rebuild this one and do it right this time.

apparently its better now, but 3rd engine in less than 20,000 miles? no sir, i would not be going back to that brand.

There were prior complaints/issues filed. The latest amendment was filed in June of 2025.

The indestructible LS? My buddy has a older Suburban that has a 5.4 in it with a quarter million miles on the clock.
