confusion on frame connectors

not sure what ones to get. like to get the weld on ones . 1967 dodge coronet.
 
I have used a couple sets of the US Car Tool ones and they have fit quite well. As always there will be variations between cars so some fitment will be needed.

I have US CarTool connectors on my '69 RR. They're "ok" ... but if I were doing it again I'd just go with 2x2x3/16" square tubing - cut an opening in the rear frame rail to slide them in and weld and butt weld to the front crossmember. I don't think there's any advantage to welding anything the full length of the floor.

The USCarTool pieces can be frustrating. The fit is not perfect nor is it continuous. So you'll be trying to fill big gaps and will also have numerous additional gaps along the length. Whatever you decide on, keep in mind your e-brake cable needs to pass through and also make provisions for brake and/or fuel lines.
 
Sure. The first is a mock up and I made notes on the gaps and then trimmed slightly to fit snugly on the floor. Then the floor prepped, and installed.

I've also put USCT ones on my 67 and they fit ok. Way more beating the floor pan down to fill gaps than I expected.

you can eliminate the front tab if the gap is wide.......makes it tighter to the floor and flush with the front rail

Nothing goes "right on". The Us Car Tool don't fit to bad. The factory floor pans vary in shape. If the seat and carpet are out? You can tack them in. Then a little beat on the floor to get them closer. 2"x 3" square works well if you slit the floor. Very strong but a little heavier. 1 5/8" chrome moly tubing is light but the floor is difficult to attach. So unless it's a very well thought out cage you get no help from the floor pan. My recomendation? No cage, US Car Tool. 8.50 or slower cage , 2"x 3" square tube. all out chassis, 1 5/8" chrome moly.

Another vote for the home-made square/rectangle tubing approach.
The nice thing about the USCT kit though, they look factory when all done....good route if you're still in the build stage/everything's apart, interior out etc.
They will both serve the purpose.
Birdsong has another variation he does, where he continues the tubing through the crossmember and welds into the front frame rails.
I haven't tried his method yet, a little more work but a little more benefit as well. He has a video on the youtube somewhere detailing the install.
 
DIY for me on the wagon. 2" .120 wall square. That way, I didn't have to cut the floor or remove the interior.

how about this one . can bolt on or weld right ?
These were installed on a car I bought, I removed to put on another car but haven't done it yet.

Substantial pieces, easily bolt on, and could certainly spot weld through the holes and weld around the perimeter of the mounts.
