OK, I decided to convert the 69 road runner to electronic ignition. I got the Mopar (orange box) conversion kit and noticed there is NO voltage regulator. Hell there is no mention of one in the install instructions. So is it not required or do I need to order one? I have one on my 72 340 Duster.

PS Where you at Pops??

Thanks again

No , you use your original. The 72' is a different setup. You will like how much better it runs!

I too have converted from points to the orange box electronic ign. on my 68 Sport Satty 440 and could not believe the difference, I hope you too will have the same experience !!!

same voltage regulator. set the timing where you had it before, you may find you can advance it further, as the engine will run so much better. I usually Install at the factory, setting, and go for a drive with a 1/2 inch wrench, and push it until it pings, and back it off. Every car is a little different, not knowing the miles,,or history of the car.

ignition section is a diff deal from charging section, although linked.

HOWEVER, it's nice to upgrade to elec regulator at the same time. slightly wiring change and ALTERNATOR change ( or modification ) must be considered to make that.

I will also add this...The Orange boxes don't have a very reliable rep when it comes to longevity so I would recommend upgrading to the Chrome box. I have used the Chrome ones now for 15 years and so far so good with no failures....

another thing to watch for, is some I purchased from Chrysler were coated with a clear type coating on the back side. If you get one of those, I had to run a ground wire from the to attach the box to another good ground. Keep in mind this was around 2002 time frame. They may not be that way anymore.
