BRUTUS - Nostalgia street and strip

Awesome work done on your car but why was the engine painted orange?
I could try to tell you Police Pursuit engine was painted orange like the Max Wedge, but really it is because I don't care for the stock engine color. There will be other things that make you say 'Whhhaaaattttt????" 8-) ......MO

Hey Steve, You are doing a very nice job. I love the color combination you pick out, almost looks the same color as my coronet. Really sucks about your paint job.
Red with white top was the original factory colors. But I jazzed them up a little bit. I told the story about my paint nightmare , hoping that others do not make the mistake that I did. trusting a "friend" without having the agreement in writing. Put it behind me and get back to business.
Thanks for the nice comments--keeps up the motivation..............................MO

Glad to see you're moving forward and away from the fiasco, Steve!

Thanks Dave, I wonder how you are doing with your Plymy? I was at the painters yesterday, getting measurements for a new driveshaft. Even with moving into and setting up a different shop, they are making progress with Brutus. The owner ( a ford guy) is stoked to be working on this car. None of the cars he has painted in the past has had the level of work on it that mine has . The compliments keeps my motivation going----------------8-)...............MO

Sounds good, Steve! I haven't been doing much on mine - been too busy. I need to at least get it out and drive it one of these days.

Little birdie told me we might see Brutus again real soon looking all shiny......

Little birdie told me we might see Brutus again real soon looking all shiny......

Brutus is painted, cut and buffed. re-chromed bumpers on, restored Fenton wheels and new tires, "special" hood installed
Hopefully Sunday or Monday , it comes out of the paint shop and on to prepping the interior . Then all trim installed and on to upholstery (not sure of that order, depends on the up. shop. ) I didn't want to post pics till the trim is all on, but that may be a while . I will get some pics Monday. ..........................MO

Read your thread. Good stuff. Picture of motivation. Looking forward to seeing the pics of a bright and shiney refreshed car soon.....

Latest update..Well, some more time gone by. Not been in a hurry as I couldn't drive Brutus anyway. I wouldn't much care if the upholstery shop keeps it all Winter in his heated shop. New windshield, rest of the trim installed and wireing will be next on the list. LOT of smaller details before he hits the roads. Here is more of the story and some latest pics. hope you enjoy. ................................MO

OK, it has been some time since an up-date on Brutus., But it has been worth it to me. 2nd time getting the body and paint done right I got a great deal on that work plus a little more from Heartland Auto Body. They have been enthusiastic about this job, but I needed to give them slack to make their location change and get some Insurance work done. I have been farmiong out work that I didn't want to do anymore. Installing rear quarter windows regulators, finishing up the exhaust, installing sound deadner and insulation, and some other small stuff.
Reason for the Thunderbolt hood and the non- existant 413 Police Pursuite valve cover decals that I designed.: My goal is to build a Street and Strip car like I would have done it in the mid 60's. Many people loved the Thunderbolt hood bubbles. They were sold by all the Speed parts catalogs and Speed shops. There used to be a lot of them on all brands of cars. I needed room for The fresh air ram induction hoses and air cleaner. Also, the rear openings allow hot air to exit the engine compartment. Air inlets from the inside headlights was a common sight on the drag strips. Cop engines were a popular way to get high performance at a low cost and were available from State equipment auctions. However , they were painted the same as all the other engines and had no Police Pursuite decals on the valve covers. Instead of a car like a million, I want a car--one in a million...8-) .. ( remember my 56 Chrysler?) There will be more era correct goodies before all is done. BTW it has a A833 four speed with the correct long handle Hurst shifter. The front wheels are Fenton's that were only made for 2-3 years in the mid 60's. I rejuvinated them myself. .......................................MOView attachment 295109View attachment 295110 IMG_9583.JPGIMG_9587.JPGIMG_9592.JPGIMG_20151014_163411282.jpgIMG_20151014_163432848.jpg

Looks great, Steve!:blob1:

Have I been banned from the "new posts" ? I always go there everyday so I can read all the posts in one place. Either this post has not been there , or deleted?? I have FBBO friends that may want to see it. Is it because of my hood bubble ????? 8-) ..............................MO

Steve!
That car is really coming along!
It looks GREAT!

I LOVE the lettering on the hood and that scoop!

Good Job!

Somehow I missed this thread till now. I just read the whole thread,,,,,,,,,,WOW,,,,,,just WOW!!! The level of attention you gave Brutus is over the top! I can only dream of my junk looking that good. I really like the frame connectors and I never seen spray chrome look that good.
There are MANY of us here that share the love of the early B's. I see many miles of smiles coming your way. It's been a long road and it's time for the payoff.

Good luck!

Typical curious cat. I have two of them that like to explore and cat around in the garage periodically. Helps to keep the vermin in check. Is your cat Mopar themed? Mine are named Dart and Cuda. Old cat was named Max Wedge. He was 7 toed.

I had a pair of sisters I rescued in my garage for a few years.
