Dirty Minds ..... I know what you were thinking...
My problem is Hooker headers wrap very closely around my mini starter. As you all know heat is the enemy in this case. I don't have much room to play with so I was wondering if others of you that have this problem have a preference for a particular heat wrap that's easy to work with in close places and is also effective. There seems to be a lot of choices and wide range in pricing. Any advice or opinions on a particular product? All replies are appreciated!

i have heard that the dodge dakota mini starter works good with headers as far as heat goes, but no sure how true that is though.

Not looking for a starter - it's the heat wrap for the starter I need. I have a Powermaster mini that says "no heat soak". But I want insurance with a good flexible heat wrap.

I have never been with a hooker. I have had a few that became strippers after we had split. That is a fine line you know. Some of the sleazy strip joints allow lewd things to occur in what they call the "VIP Room".
I had a buddy that got a private dance at a place in Van Nuys several years back. We were there for the Spring Fling car show and he was not getting along well with the wife. I sat at the "tip rail" watching several sluts come and go while he was in that back room. I can't recall how long that he was back there but it was awhile. You think all she did was dance for 15-20 minutes? He wouldn't tell. I was pissed about that. Part of being friends is the fun you have bragging about the fun or stupid stuff we do.

Yikes - I think Kern took my headline too seriously. He's caught up on the Hooker thing. Seriously folks I'm just looking for the most effective starter heat wrap that y,all recommend.

Not to high jack this thread, but I'm curious about how heat would effect different brand/quality mini starters. Say Denso, Powermaster, etc. versus generic parts store rebuilts. A very wide range of prices. Anybody have any experience comparing different brands? On my B engine I have a Denso starter with TTI headers, no problems with either in the last 8 years.

I've had TTI 2" ceramic coated headers on my 440 with a Powermaster mini starter for 2 years now and no issues with the starter heat soaking and not working. She cranks every time. Though this time, when the motor goes back in, I may put some heat shield on it. I've used the DEI heat wrap on the starter wires going to the starter and the wires look good as new.

Wrap that rascal with a condom? It's not too hard to fashion a shield and attach it/them to the headers or even the starter.....but I've never had any problems with starters and headers and some were just about touching the starter and snaked around it pretty closely.

Oh the TTIs are definitely wrapped around the starter, but no issues to date.

I have had heat/starter issues with Hookers (& Heddmans too for that matter), but it was with the larger, stock-style starters. The engine would crank REALLY slow like the battery was almost dead. My AutoZone brand Dakota starter has been fine (more clearance = less heat), but heat wrap never hurts. As others mentioned, you can wrap the starter, the headers or both.

Which Hookers? I've got Hooker Super Comps on mine, have decent clearance and have never had starter issues in 10,000 miles. Maybe mine being a low deck creates more space??? If it were me I just bend a thin piece of stainless to reflect the heat away leaving enough space for airflow.

No hookers but a guy in the paper is selling a Jeep with a 6000# "wench" on the front. The Jeep must have a heavy duty suspension too.

Don't know why but that one took me a few seconds lol

I suspect he's doing a bit of body shaming here...... naughty, naughty....

I've always only wrapped the positive cable to the starter near the headers with heat insulator.

Mini. TTI ceramics. No problems, always spins.

Autozone has good header wrap and get the metal zip ties to secure it. I had problems with my Hurst shifter cable because the routing of it causes it to be really close to my header.
