The car is far from perfect, but the best I've seen in my (almost) three year search. "Functionally" I could find nothing wrong with the car. Everything works, started easily, idled great, good oil PSI, no overheating after idle for over 30 minutes. Car is wearing all of it's original sheetmetal, trunk, and floorboards. In certain view angles you can see many paint imperfection (sanding marks and obvious poor prep areas). I found on the passenger quarter way low a small area that is obviously bondo, maybe the size of a half dollar. No bubbling anywhere. Frame rails solid. Trunk extensions great. Car spent it's life in Utah, Las Vegas, and Phoenix.

Wiring under dash looks great, and under hood good to pretty good. Could not really find any Redneck Engineering, or Roadkill evidence.

No spare, or jack.

All glass is original. Windshield etched in areas. All windows roll up and down, but took lots of effort.

The seller lives in a mansion on a mountain. Dirt and gravel road. Raining cats and dogs while I was there, so was only allowed to drive around his courtyard. For what little I drove it was fine. Brake pedal firm, power steering overboosted like a mopar should be. Horn does go Beep Beep. Together we confirmed numbers matching.

Not as much documentation as I would have liked, but proof of motor rebuild 4 years ago, and some receipts. Nice lope, nice exhaust, although the exhaust manifold leaked oh so slightly after the car was heat soaked and restarted. Nice Flowmaster exhaust.

The seller has $250,000 worth of B Bodys in his garage. This car is his 'lowest value' car and being sold to make room for an E Body.

I probably paid too much at 26, but if I did I did not overpay much. Maybe a grand, or so.

The car is allowed to stay in his garage 10 days, so I need to move on getting him paid and getting it to Tucson.

Thanks for all of the nice replies. Take care, Bill

Hi Bill,

Congrats.... now the fun begins :) Bring her up, we can get the regulators working better in a day. Take them out, bead blast them and clean them up. If the rears need rollers I have the original from the right and the parts that I did not use since there was no reason to replace them. Likely could use new weatherstrip in the channels too. That helped a lot on mine.

Weatherstrips are new, or like new.

Thanks for the offer to help. I will utilize Southern Arizona's most knowledgeable B Body expert as I'm sure I will need advice and help.

Also get AAA to tow it home. The $125 yearly cost package includes a 200 mile from home free tow. It pays for itself with just this tow. That is how I got mine home (ignore the hole in the gas tank problem :) )

The ones in the channels in the doors? You can't see them unless you take the door panel off. Also the one on the front of the glass on the vent frame.

I'm using AutoRelo out of Vail. I know the owner. He has business all the time in Peoria, said he will trailer it down for $200 to $250. I have AAA basic, but don't want to drive another 330 mile round trip to show my card to AAA.

I use ye ol'3M silicon paste on all of my car's window channels. Keeping those cheapo nylon drum+cable power window regulators long lasting.

Having said that, I'll be happy to take your hospitality and be a student and see how these things work.

That that stuff works. Where it got me in trouble on newer cars is that stuff attacks plastics.... got to replace a dash in a Oldsmobile Delta 88 when it got brittle and just fell apart after I applied it to some squeaking points...

I would be nice to pull those panels off just to see the shape of the inner panels. It appears to be in about the same shape as mine was, pitting in the trunk floor but still solid. It would be a shame to let the body continue to deteriorate in an area that is not normally accessible. I shot the inner fenders and doors with epoxy primer to try to slow down the process. I have areas that I cut the small rust holes out on the under side and did NOT fill them back with metal. That allows me to get a nozzle in there to shoot Cosmoline or similar into the high risk areas as a normal maintenance item.

You're right. But I can almost guarantee he would have found someone to pay 26k if you didn't. Prob the next guy in line. Congrats!

BTW we're all waiting for the 19k Super Bees and R/T Coronets! Lol

Looks good! It looks a lot cleaner than it did in his add too!
I think you did alright. Good solid driver.

WTG Bill, VERY happy for you! Love that color combo. Post more pic's when you get it home.

I certainty tried to get this car for 24,500 as the seller claimed he refused a 24,000 cash in hand offer. I even tried to get him to at least give me a break on the price to pay for trailer towing ($250). I even tried to get him to come down $50 for a new antenna.

No....nadda....only 26, or please leave.

The price you have to pay for a 50 year old car that sold for $3200 new...................

From the looks of those fender tag bolts he sure didn't want it blowing off in the wind.
