My wife and I were discussing this. She asked if I had named my 2013 Charger Daytona. I said NO! I call my rides what they are...The Charger or Daytona, the GTX, the Truck. She, on the other hand, has to NAME them...Joey Jeep for example ( she has a Cherokee).
I told her I have seen lots of threads on this forum but do not recall seeing one on this topic, which leads me to believe MOST of us do not engage in this "activity".

I've named many cars over the years, both mine and others. The level of profanity was dependent on the level of frustration it gave me. (But, seriously, no... never)

for most of my cars its rusty piece of ****
and one car i call patches
because the parts from 17 different cars were used to make the shell whole again.

During my restoration/ build, i had the misfortune of hiring a complete idiot to do my paint work. He forgot or mismixed the chemicals. Which caused the 1st coat of clear to not harden. Then sprayed the 2nd coat. Which caused the paint to look like alligator skin. ( as seen in pic ). Anyway, between all the sanding during body work, after paint, and prepping again, my car has seen so much sand, i call it, Sahara !

I had a Dodge P/Up I bought from a local Salvage yard back in the late '80's, we called the "Texas Twister", as it had Texas plates on it. Had a great body, but mechanically was a never ending project. Also a Nice '73 Satellite Sebring, the "Road Warrior", as that car was a super highway ride, and handled like a dream. My Van has been called the "Green Machine", and "Sin Bin" by friends for years...

One other thought, is I refer to All my newer restorations as "Money Pits"...

My wife used to name them when we were younger, she soon figured out that I never kept one long enough for it to be worthwhile. I don't get attached to them enough to warrant names.

I have a 73 SSB that is yellow and has been call the Canary for over 40 years

Never. The cars already have names -see the emblems.
Anything beyond that strikes me as kind of silly.

I do. I currently have Dusty, Pebbles, and Bam Bam!

I've called mine a few names before, can't mention them here

I don't name all of them.
I sometimes buy project cars, fix them up and sell them. Some of them have well deserved names.
"The Roach" was a crappy 74 Duster.
"The Drat" was a 75 4 door Dart that would sometimes fail to start for no apparent reason.
"Old Yeller" was a 74 Duster in pale yellow. I repainted it in Dodge Ram Detonator yellow.
MY two favorites were trucks though....I had a 74 Dodge Camper 9000 that was as loud with the windows up or down, was rusty, gutless but was essential for doing dirty jobs. I called it "Old Shitty". I replaced it with a 75 Power Wagon 200 that I then called "NEW Old Shitty", or NOS. The Wife has 2 cars...a 2003 Honda CRV we call the HOS..."Honda Old Shitty". WE call it that because while it is still totally reliable, it is full of scratches and the carpets have lots of hair from hauling our dogs. Her daily car is the 2016 Challenger R/T she calls "BlueBell".

I don't "name" them. But, when **** doesn't go right, I have creative and colorful names I call them.

Agree, although I do admit to getting attached (and even loyal, if deserved) to many of them.
I'm trying to learn to say "Geee-tix" like they used to. Just can't. :)

I heard that " Geee-tix ", on an old video. I thought it was a mistake by the annoncer. Never knew.

Yeah, apparently that was a "thing" back then. I've heard it pronounced with both a hard "G" as well as like a "J".
Kinda too cutesy for me either way. :)
