BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

Welcome> Unless there is some body or frame rust we don't see, I'd go thru the fuel system and the brakes since it's been sitting so long. Do some proper prestart precautions, then drive the wheels off it.

Welcome from North Carolina.

That car is totally WORTHLESS!!! I will come pick it up to save you the trouble of junking it.

 Here we go again:rofl: not because you have a truck you can pick all the chargers you want bro, don't be so selfish... :drinks::carrot::luvplace:

It would fit perfectly on my truck.

Welcome from the show me state!! Beautiful car you have there!! As said before by others, wash and drive, but, only you know what condition it's really in. As far as value, spend away!!

cool 68 Charger 383 4 speed

welcome to FBBO

I’d throw those seat covers in the dumpster and drive that beautiful car.
Welcome aboard. I like sheepskin seat covers. Keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer and protects the seats. Enjoy the car and congrats on your 50th. Just hit 32 years with my BW (Beautiful Wife) !!

Yep,just as everyone is saying above, clean up exterior, perform compression/leakdown and repair or freshen motor if needed, rebuild carb, new fluids, all hydraulic braking components, new tires, check steering components, carpet and seat covers if needed(give those aftermarket covers back to the sheep though). Any other bolt on items that annoy you. Otherwise drive and have fun.
Thanks for the tips.

Change the oil, pull the valve covers and distributor. Then cut a blade screwdriver off, stick it in a drill and run the oil pump as a friend turns the motor over slowly with a ratchet on the crank bolt. When oil comes out of a rocker assembly, turn the crank and get oil out of the other.
Pull the fuel line to the carb and replace fuel pump. Clean the tube with muriatic acid and then carb cleaner. I use an outboard motor fuel tank to start a car that has been setting. The car's tank will most likely have crud that will stick a valve or plug a carb.
Check the coolant and see if it starts. If it starts, warm it thoroughly while watching for leaks or odd noises.
Thanks for the tips.

Unfortunately for you that car is pretty much worthless being just a base H code 4 speed car. Either keep it and drive it into the ground or yes, I’ve thought long and hard about this, in order to help out a fellow Mopar enthusiast I’d be willing to take it off your hand for $6000.00 in cash.

Yes, this is a selfless offer I know, Just let me know if need my help.

(This is where I’d insert a smirky smiley, or a devil smiley if I knew how!)

Just tune er up and drive that bad boy, and if you want to really restore it, don’t hesitate on spending lots on it. They command a lot of dough on the open market
Thanks for the offer. I'll put you on the list.

Thanks, but I wouldn't want you to have to drive all the way across the country.

Seat covers came with the car. They'll probably go away when it's ready for the road.

Welcome.
A rare story for sure.
As everyone suggested you've got some work going through everything all fluids, rubber components.
Keep us posted on your progress.
It would be nice to see some pictures of it cleaned and shined up in the daylight.

Got so wrapped up in doing car shows the last few months I forgot to post pictures here. Turned out awesome. The car was pretty good to begin with. I have more money in the paint job than the rest of the car, but I guess it paid off. Did 18 car shows and picked up 5 awards. I present it as right out of a 1968 Time Capsule. It's about 98% stock. It still has a working 8-Track and 84,000 miles. I did some shows with 300+ cars and never saw another 68 Charger.
