Btw, the car is badged as a 440 Magnum. Awaiting fender and door tag info. Will post when I get it.

Looks reasonably legit.

Although that mis-stamped Dash VIN will always haunt that car.

If it doesn't matter to you, it can be a negotiating point.
 
So this is an October 1971 build of a 1972 car, correct?
 
Yes, production for the new model year usually started in August. As a side note the numbering system started at 100001, not 000001.
 
It might be a plant thing. I am just speculating. I don't think I have ever seen any like that.
Well you got me a wondering about the asterisks thing so I did some checking. Everything 1971 and up has them. I've checked about 30 cars, all bodies and factory's. Everything 1970 and older does not have them.

Thanks for checking. I don't remember my Charger having them, but that has been gone for 30 years, and I have slept a few times since then. Not only that, all of my pictures of that car were lost in the divorce. I know that doubles exist, but she won't go thru the box and get them for me, figures...
