The "I'm so old thread......"

I remember when I was six years old and my Great Grandfather was visiting. He saw our B&W tv and asked "How did that man get into that box?" He was dead serious, he had never seen a tv before.

Am not that old but am no longer drive at night, can't see ****, start using glasses because I can't see things at a close range, and I start to get cramps in places I never had it before.

I pull both hearing aids just for some piece and quiet.

I'm so old that I remember when The air was clean, the cars were masterpieces and the women were fabulous. My birthday is in 3 days though so I'll forget all of that then because I will be too old...

That's been my biggest annoyance. Practically my whole life I've been near sighted, now I can't see near or far.................. :cursin:

That's exactly why I've refused any manner of script painkillers - always.
I've been known to yank the damn IV out of my arm in the hospital even.

It's not anything macho, trust me - I'm on the other end of the pain tolerance spectrum, in fact:
As a redheaded (well, before it went gray) fair-skinned boy, I've always been overly-sensitive to
everything - pain, the sun, light, hell I'm walking barometer and can predict weather by feel.
As a result, my doc says my "pain bucket is always full".

No....I won't do painkillers because I've seen all too often what they do to otherwise good people
(anyone from Limbaugh to my own dad).
I am quite literally scared to death of them - I'm afraid I'll take a liking to them and from what all
I've witnessed and read on them, they're the hardest thing in the world to kick once you're on them.
That's ok - whatever Alieve or a Goody powder don't knock the edge off of, I'll deal with (and be
a gumbly old bastard sometimes).

I worked on reassembling the Charger yesterday & worked from 7:30 - 4:30 and took a half hour break for lunch. I plopped myself down on the couch and man, was I stiff when I got back up. Gone are the days when I could work like the Energizer Bunny all day and still feel good. As I am typing this, I'm still a bit stiff.

I'm remodeling the bathroom, as you know, and the kneeling on the floor and getting up and down, and laying on my back all twisted up under the vanity inside the cabinet takes a toll.. sore muscles that haven't been used in a while. Not as young and springy as I once was despite having been in the military so long and forced to exercise daily. I expect that I'm in better shape than a lot of guys my age, but still. Stiff and sore at the end of the day.

I'm so old I remember we had the first color TV on the block, 19" Panasonic.

...I'm getting stiff in all the wrong places.

(and I don't mean around schools)

A variation: I'm stiff in all the places I don't want to be and NOT stiff where I DO want to be!!!
