When installing the torsion bar and adjustable UCAs, both instructions said to tighten the bolts once at final ride height. Now that I've decided to lower the front end more, do I need to loosen the LCA pivot arm nut and nuts on UCA pivot bolts prior to adjusting?

Hothkis torsion bars, SPC adjustable UCAs, and Hothkis adjustable strut rods.

The reason for tightening the nuts after the ride height is set is so that the stock rubber type bushings are at their centre of travel at normal ride height. Since they are bonded to both the inner and outer sleeves they only move by stretching the rubber, so you want them at their centre of travel when at normal ride height to limit the amount of stretch needed when the bar moves up and down. If you are using stock rubber bushings, it would be best practice to loosen the nuts so the rubber isn't stretched at centre of travel when you lower the car. If you have polyurethane or polygraphite bushings where there is a sliding joint where the bushing moves on the pin, you don't need to loosen the nuts. Cheers!

Makes sense. I replaced the pivot arm and the bushing which didn't feel like rubber. I will have to double check.

Thank you for the information.

Did you get any info from the parts makers? Since they are not factory parts, there are no factory specs on how to do it.
Look them up or contact their tech dept.

I looked up the manufacturer instructions and it did not require loosening the pivot shift bolt. Thanks for the replies.
