how should i build my 318 LA?

i have a 74 dart with 318 and a a904 tranny. i want to get more out of my 318. right now it's all stock with small cam, terrible compression, 2bbl carb, and overall just no balls. i'm planning on replacing heads, intake, valvetrain, switching to headers, and probably comp pistons. i just want some opinions on what's best and i'd really like links to parts that work best together. ex: roller cam with lifters and rockers and pushrods ect. also try to stay on the cheaper side if possible. links would be appreciated. thanks to all
 
Are you doing it yourself or paying someone ?
 
Drop a Early-mid 90's roller 360 in the dart... No Replacement for displacement....
 
Take your numbers engine & put it on a dolly under your workbench....

4" stroker kit will give you 390 cu in
Clean up the heads, ports, and valves or get 340 heads
340 intake and manifolds

Get some build ideas from 318willrun, he's on YouTube. If you want to make power your going to need increased compression and get some decent flowing heads. 440'
 
You can get stock replacement pistons in 9.2:1.

...and "here we go again" on 318 cams...
 
We have a 75 318 dart sport and a 76 Dart sport with a factory police 360. You didn’t say what gears are in your car, but if they are stock, they are likely the terrible 2.41 highway gears like our 75 318 car. If you just switched to a 3.23 gear and a 4 bbl you would be SHOCKED how much better the car runs. We have ran mid 15s 1/4 mile e.t.’s in A and B bodies 318 cars. Usually had a 340 cam or something similar like a 204/214/224 variety summit white box cams and stock compression. Much better cams available than those now. The stock cam doesn’t do terrible when you get the gearing better and a 4 bbl, mid to upper 15s with 3.23 or 3.55s.

No substitute for cubic inches if you can budget a stroker.

But the stroker won’t like the 2.41 gears either(if that is what you have yet).
