Alot to unpack here… sorry

So my car would only start using a jumper to bypass the starter relay. (Previous owner had a deck screw in the wire so I’m guessing thats what its doing?) I got it to start in neutral by accident one day and had a similar issue with a dirtbike and it was a neutral safety. I found the cars neutral safety and its burnt to pieces along with alot of other wires in the area. The car (74 satellite sebring + with 360) will start on ethanol but dies out soon after. Has a new edelbrock carb. I also replaced the ballast resistor since it had a burnt wire (havent tested yet after) I’m going to ground the neutral safety for the time being or splice in a new spade. I think this picture with the cylinder is a starter solenoid… those top two wires are pretty burnt… what do they do?
Thanks in advance guys.

Something shorted those wires out. He accidentally touch that starter wire ( red) to ground?

If he did, he didn’t tell me about it. But I wouldn’t be surprised. I bought it without hearing it run, but he was trying pretty frantically to get it running.

I once accident hit the starter wire to a header and fried my harness like that
