62 Belvedere 318 poly granny cruiser (one day i hope)

Finally got off my butt and ordered front tires... 215/75/15 27.7" diameter.. i'm praying they fit.. '62s wheel placement in the wheel openings is not great.. wanted as tall as i could get...

Really happy with how the rims came out.. other than 1 hair :( for being shot in a dirty garage they are almost perfect...

P.S. the tires on it came with the car and they are BFGs from i think the 70s.... totally rock hard but no dry rot... kind of surprised they lasted me this long

Need to find some 9" dog dishes.... hate to scratch up the rims putting them on though :)

k... new tires... it's hot as satans balls already today.. but at least they are done.. Gonna swap my front shocks at the same time i put these on.. $280 mounted :( grrrr

Praying they clear the front valance..

changed the front shocks... and put the new tires on.. and then took a pic with them in the shade.. wtf.... and i think i need 2 9" dog dishes for sure.. too dark like this..

Also lost one lower shock nut which are fine thread so i don't have spares.. grr.. air gun flung it across the world somewhere...

finally decided to figure out my brake problem.. i had checked with a pressure gauge and was only getting 400psi at the calipers no matter how hard i pushed.. was starting to think it was my pedal ratio or something mechanically wrong, then i ran into a post by a guy that tested at the MC (common sense.. just didn't think of it...) and made up a short line and tested tonight.. 1000PSI at the MC.. soo.. losing 600psi somewhere.. first thing i'm trying is, the line for the front brakes i got from inline tube and has a big vertical loop in it, possible it had trapped air, i made a new line in it tonight with more of a Z so it can have a bit of movement (my MC moves a bit) but shouldn't trap air, need help bleeding before i can test it..

Also last time out a few days ago i went shopping and backed out of a parking spot and heard a loud CLUNK when i turned the wheel.. made it home and if i turned the wheel like 1/4 turn left i got a loud clunk.. found my steering box loose tonight.. not sure if it was the issue but tightened it up. It still slightly rocks when i turn left/right, not sure how i can fix that..

Am I seeing this right? You have a dual master, with an adjustable valve, all feeding into a common tee going to both ends of the car??????

no, the T is a distribution block, front goes to front..rear to rear... I think i finally figured my brake issue though.. waiting for help bleeding then i'll know

Fronts look like they are set in a bit.. but will see how it rides once i feel like driving it again..

bled the brakes... still 500 at the calipers... sooo.. for now i'm stumped.. when i am less annoyed i will put the pressure gauge on the line from the mc to the dist block.. and then check after the block to see if that's my pressure drop.

BUT... the steering box shims worked perfect, no more wobbly box..

And i changed the front shocks and got new tires and my god what a difference.. the car just floats over bumps now... amazing difference.

Did a bit of work on the brakes today. mainly diagnosing.. so. i blocked off the right side front at the dist block just to work on the drivers to check pressure since it's the shortest run.. i can get 1000PSI at the MC, i get 1000psi at the dist block output.. but seems to take a bit more. the video below is after the distblock and about 6" of line.. can hit 1000 but really have to stand on the pedal..
Then at the caliper i can't get over 650PSI no matter how hard i press...

I got speed bleeders and used those on the front... love them, makes bleeding alone sooo easy

P.S. thinking of pulling the brake pedal and moving the MC rod hole up like 1/4 or so of an inch. would make a big difference.. but doesn't explain why the pressure drops from 1000 to 650 at the caliper...

Was just playing with pedal ratio/pressure calculators... so.. the difference of moving the rod even 1/4" up or down is massive.. 200+psi.. i'm going to pull my pedal and check the actual ratio, if it ends up 5.5:1 that would explain my low pressure. i am going to go for 7:1, maybe a little more...

K... so... took 5 mins to pull the brake pedal out.. measured it up.. 14.5" length.. 2.25" pivot to MC hole for 6.44:1 ratio which should be plenty.. i welded it half closed and redrilled to make it 7.25:1
Took it for a quick ride, helped a little... Then i ran into this chart from wilwood.. 15/16" MC with 7:1 is 1014psi... what i think i'm going to do is find out if anyone makes a 3/4" bore MC that will bolt into a b-body.. that would get me closer to 1600psi..

I sitll don't get why i get 1000 at the MC and only 650 at the caliper but am tired of not being able to drive.. it's pretty scary to stop above 40.
