Didn’t have much cash then at my age, but working, when I bought my 1st ‘new’ car, a ’73 Challenger, trading in (grrr) my ’70 Cuda vert. Before that had a ’67 GTO vert. I looked at Firebirds, Camaro’s, Mustangs, but mopar got into my blood by then and knew a few well-off people who bought mopars...
Lol, tell him that’s not true, poor people couldn’t buy a new Charger and they didn’t want to buy a Chevy or Ford cuz they lacked what the Chargers had…the cool factor, even when – pre-owned.
On occasion would note a little resemblance of the back of the ’70 RR to the ’67 GTO. Having a ’67 in my youth, could be why they are two of the cars on my favorite list. MO, both are – stellar in so many ways.
Been around since the old muscle cars were still new and owned a few from GM and mopar. I took a lot of chit from non-mopar guys in their Fords and GM’s including my elder brother who hated mopars. My brother had a fast ride, purported to be none faster in our town back when winning a lot, a Ram...
And earlier. Look at a 1st gen Challenger and a modern one. A lot more going on to direct air away from under the car and hold it down on the highway. Was there that much difference though in the early 70 models yet? My’ 63 gets a lighter-boat feel to it after 75 mph and gets worse at higher...
If I had to make a list of what I don’t like about the dozens of mopar models, particularly in a certain 15-year span, it would be MUCH shorter than listing what I like. Could say the same about Ford and GM of the era, with my like-o-meter bobbing a bit. Some of this is could include one’s age...
Yeah, one thing I wish I had on my '63 vert is power windows. Could be just spoiled over the decades of having PW's. My 67 GTO vert I bought in HS had them as did the 1st car I restored with my dad (mom's 72 Cutlass vert semi-cloned to a 442). Should have done this when the 63 was tore down...
I'd check the switch connections first and that the switch is 'tight' in the dash. If no luck, try the new one you have, much easier check than what might have to come next.
When I installed a console from another ride in my ’63, had done a long web search for available cup holders. Tons to be had. Got these from a site selling marine (boat) supplies that were close for the diameter and depth I needed. Friend worked at a tool & die shop finding scrap aluminum we...
It’s one of those questions where the more you ponder on it, the more stuff sounds like a good idea to bring along until the trunk is full and no room left for the wife’s luggage…
I got a Hermosa as well for my 63 couple years ago. Needed the type that is shaft mount. Has many features I don’t use; but liked the jump drive music and power antenna connection. Didn’t need to cut anything on the dash; but made an aluminum face plate having to cut part of the bezel face...
While not the same car, on my ’63 adding an aftermarket tach was pretty easy. I located one having about the same face diameter for the cluster lens and used duct tape to increase the diameter of the gauge housing to insert tightly in the space where the clock was. In my case, the clock had a...
Much as my brother and I are close, he’s always been let’s say over-opinionated. Being my elder he took advantage of it. He was not a mopar guy admitting a few exceptions…but with him HIS stuff is/was the coolest and my stuff is/was ****. My ’70 Cuda vert, ****, my Challenger, ****. “Oh man...
Well hey, give credit and kudos to those making the clip. Some will like, some won’t. Is what it is. However, some have the gonads to do it and other’s not. If I’d a been behind the wheel in my ride for the burnout scene, as could have easily been done viewing the clip…would have been neat...
