We just replaced the A/C compressor on my 1977 Cordoba it worked fine but now it has got an oil leak. Local parts houses don't have any replacements. What's a good source for a reman? I see them on eBay and also Rock Auto but am a bit concerned about those sources. Any recommendations? TIA
I just bought a set of door seals to replace the old hard cracked ones. Should I use any type of adhesive to install the new ones or do they just press in?
I've owned two Cordobas and both had rather dim instrumentation lights. Is it my old eyes or some other problem. Was this a Chrysler "thing"? Any solutions would be appreciated.
I was putting in a new radio and noticed a four wire connector near the radio area. It has a dark blue, yellow, Green with black tracer and a tan looking wire. The yellow is hot when the ignition switch is on. My schematic seems to indicate it may be part of the cruise control system. My...
My dash instrument lights oscillate, they get brighter and dimmer constantly when the light switch is on. The car is a 77 Cordoba. I recently replaced the alternator and regulator. I replaced the body to engine ground cable and have a separate wire grounding the regulator to that cable as...
When I first start up my 77 Cordoba, the steering wheel turns by itself to almost a full right turn (wheels turn too). This only seems to happen when the car has set for awhile. Fluid is up to the correct level and is correct for this car. Anyone ever experience this? It's really weird.
The outside rear corner of my rocker arm cover area appears to be leaking a little oil that falls right on top of the exhaust pipe. Is this a common problem with these engines? It's 77 model 400 cid. I am going to replace the gasket and try some sealer. Any recommendations would help. Thanks.
In all the years that I have been working on cars, worked for car dealerships etc etc, I have never seen or heard of this happening. I went out yesterday to start one of my cars up just to run the engine and charge up the battery after it has set up for about three weeks. As soon as I opened...
My 1977 Cordoba's transmission is in pretty sad shape. Shifts are erratic and all sorts of howling and whining noises coming from inside. I had it sent to a specialty shop, one of the best around here, and they dropped the pan. They found a lot of metal in it and have quoted me $850 to go...
I started this project awhile back and I finally had time to get part of it done.
The right spring was broken and the clamp was also badly rusted and broken.
Just to the left of the shock you can see a gap between the clamp and the upper spring plate. The OEM's were not like that...
I'm going to replace the rear springs on my 77 Cordoba. I have found the rear shackles and there's a variety of springs out there but I also need the U shaped plate and U bolts that are shown in the picture. There's a thick rubber insulator between it and the spring. I am looking to keep the...
I don't know what the name of this part is, but it's broken. It's for the lower left door hinge on my 77 Cordoba. What is it called? Where can I find one? It kind looks like the sort of thing Dorman's would have. Thanks.
Removed from hinge. Right now it's not doing anything.
I have removed all the of the lean burn ignition system and I'm getting the timing sorted out. I'm thinking 10 degrees BTDC with no vacuum advance and "all in" at about 32 ~ 35 degrees.
I'm sure others have already made this conversion, so I'd appreciate advise rather than having to reinvent...
I've seen the some of the info on converting from Lean Burn to GM HEI ignition. I have one question, do I simply eliminate the ballast resistor and connect my positive side of the coil to the blue wire that is on the left side of the ballast resistor? The diagrams I have seen are a little...
Summit is selling a Mopar Performance intake that is set up for a square bore manifold. I would like to replace the oem carb and intake on my 77 Cordoba (400 cid) with that intake and an Edelbrock Performer Carb ( I was thinking the 1406 version with elect choke). Has anyone else done this? TIA.
I've got a 1977 Cordoba with 400 engine. It's got the stock thermo-quad and Lean Burn ignition set up. I'm going to replace the LB system with a GM HEI module and vacuum advance Mopar distributor. The carburetor is the question. Which one would you recommend? I'm leaning towards the...
Where is it? How do I access it? I'm used to seeing them on the floor boards by the driver's left foot area or on some cars under the hood. The book says it's on the left side of the steering column but I can't see it.
My directionals, hazard flashers and A/C compressor lock up don't work...
