$10/Barrel oil tax - how quaint

That's Notgonnahappen dot com.

But it does show the willingness of never letting an opportunity go to waste.

This brief respite in oil prices will not last forever. Oil, frankly, is too low right now. It benefits consumers. It's very bad for those who work in the oil business. It's bad for towns and cities who support those who work in the oil business. It's bad for companies that sell equipment that supports mining and drilling. Right now, the low prices are not a happy medium.

Yes, it's bad for those folks, but they're about 1.5% of the population. For the other 98.5% these prices are awesome. :) Besides, I don't remember too much weeping coming from that 1.5% when the rest of us were getting bent over so their business could be good. :)

We had 30-ish a barrel for several decades and noone complained then. I think
they've gotten spoiled.

Referring to the 80's/90's.

i just think oil prices wont stay down forever, so its nice to have that right now. But we all know its going back up, and probably not too long from now. Sneaking in what amounts to around a 30% tax at the barrel "because prices are low" is just wrong.

Won't get through the House anyway.

the oil companies are used to making tens of BILLIONS. woops! their profits are down now ,.... for awhile. they have never cared how the little guy gets screwed! to make their billions? but that is corporate America is general.

add $10 a barrel tax on crude to be paid by big oil, does anyone actually think it will not be passed on to the consumer!!????? surely not.

This coming from the guy who has used more fuel going on vacation over the past 7 years than dozens of us commoners combined will use in an entire lifetime for all our use.

It's been bad that the oil Co. have been sticking it to us for over a long time, it's not bad now. Oil Co. are just now sucking their own tit off of some of their extorted inflated profits that they've been milking the people for over 50 years.

O'Bummer trying to get what is left in our wallets. Another tax. Relentless.

I have allot of oil co. stocks, it's not going to be good for stock holders/investors either,
I'm sure my dividends will take a hit too...

It's not all about the poor guy or the rich oil co. executives etc...

Trucking/shipping co.'s are liking the lower fuel costs...
Or those poor idiots & people that have to commute or drive 100's of miles everyday
{sorry to the idiots, it's not meant as an insult, I was one}

some or probably allot of us common folk are effected in many ways by cheap crude oil...

some in good ways, some not so good ways too...

Here in Calif. were f--ked anyway, they tax the crap out of gasoline & diesel,
like $0.66 cents a gal. now {IIRC} we will never have really cheap fuel ever again...

THANKS TO "MAINLY", WITH ABSOLUTELY NO LEADERSHIP IN PUBLIC OFFICE TODAY &
OBAMA's false narratives, lies & constant pandering {appeasement}
to his Progressive anti-oil, anti-coal, anti-little guy, anti-small business,
anti-Rep, anti-capitalism, you didn't build that mentality, his party's
base & greenie party money grab or plain over-Taxations & greed/eco-Naziism...

He sure does take credit for the JOBS & Economy boost from private industry making it happen & it helped with his lame job #'s/speeches/STOTU address etc. thou...
In-spite of his actions, pleads, his party, the added TAXES etc., it survived, oil will survive,
the oil industry keeps plugging away...

OK back to your regular scheduled programming

OPEC is purposely driving down the cost of oil to kill our side drilling efforts here in the states. They want this side drilling industry to die, so after all side drilling for oil is gone, they can cut production and hammer us with very high prices. Side drilling was taking off the past couple of years and when gas was $3.xx a gallon, side drilling was cost effective. Now gas being $1.xx, you loose big money in side drilling. OPEC knows what they are doing and they will put us in a big strangle hold!

The rest of the story. I hear that the tax would only apply to imported oil. All these years, the Saudis and others have been getting very rich at our expense. Why are we even importing oil when we have the oil right here. What have they been saving the oil for all these years, for the price to get high enough to make it "profitable"? Just ban all imported oil and make us oil independent .

I would be all for that, even if ours was more expensive. The Saudis are no real friends of ours anyway, so let them choke on all their oil for all I care.
