1966 Plymouth Belvedere I Wagon

Can anyone tell me what the square cut out is for in the plastic spare tire cover?
When I purchased it, nothing was there.

The little recessed handle to make lifting it off easier. I had something similar on my 71 Fury wagon. Really tricky to find. I'd try Murray Park in Ohio. He's mostly C bodies, but maybe you'll get lucky. A 66 parts book to see if anything else used it would be a help.

If you can get a picture of what the part looks like, you could fabricate up a new part to replace it - make it out of metal, instead of plastic, so the thing will last longer.
