Just picked up a 1967 Belvedere 225 and by what i can see on line it has more h.p. than from a dodge diplomat 1982 ex cop car , 225 super six. i bought the '82 for parts cheap and has new tranny. so if anybody know what engine is better or more h.p. shine some light on it for me
Also i am hoping to use the p.s. and power brake . to fit on the Belvedere with swapping drums to discs , hoping it will work .
thanks

Honestly, the HP difference isn't that great. There was a change in how HP was measured that went into effect around 1972. If you look at the specs, it looks like the HP went from 145 down to 100. There wasn't any big engine changes, only how the power was measured. The 82 engine has hydraulic lifters, the 67 has solid lifters. If you prefer one over the other, then use that engine. Just put the Super Six setup on whichever engine you decide to keep.

I'd pull the valve-covers...see which is cleanest, and compare mileage.

The 82 should be unleaded friendly, but I'm fairly certain that a slant will run on rubbing alcohol or cheap gin.

I don't think the PB booster and M/C will swap over as the design changed from a 2 bolt to a 4 bolt M/C and the spacing changed at the firewall.

Be careful mixing steering parts as well.

The earlier unit is the better one in terms of better components, solid lifter cam, smaller chamber head, etc. But the intake and carb from the '82 will give it a performance boost, and if the '82 is an standard electronic distributor you can do the conversion on your earlier car too. If it's a lean-burn unit don't use it. And re-curve whichever unit you end up using just like you would a V8.

i plan on rebuilding the 82 engine , the hydraulic lifters and they better than the solid ones less head ache.
i was planning to shave the head to up the compression . and what cam should i use stock? I was thinking something
that would give me i lil more power , i plan on running headers . the electronic ignition i took off and will run for sure
my friend has a sun distributor machine so i can dial in the advance where i want it. i just scrapped the old cop car
last friday so have all the parts now , I'm pretty confidant the disc brakes and p.s. will bold right on .
will line up the tie rod end arm to see if the length are equal, and see what turning fro lock to lock is.
i kept the stab bars too hopefully fir them on
