1968 Charger, Ray Barton 528 Hemi, Pro-touring.

Messy day today at the workshop but something got done atleast. Fitted and adjust the front valance. Had to drill up the bolt holes to 16mm on the Mustang rotors since the wheel studs splines sticks out some of the hubs.
Checked the offset and it's spot on. Don't need any shimming.
Blacked out the radiator when I got home. Don't like to see the bright alu through the grille.

Cleaned and painted the park and turn light lenses. Not perfect but it'll do for now. Found some Amber/White led lights. They were quite tall, barely fit.
Almost forgot to replace the dust protectors and o-rings in the Brembo calipers. But it turn's out I only received one correct repair kit!! The other one was something completely different, bummer..
Custom steelbraided brake hoses are ordered, should have them on friday. Getting close to fill up with fluids and bleed the brakes.

Quick visit in the workshop during my daughters soccer practice. Adjusted the grille frame and the hood latch since I decided to keep the -71 to -74 latch and install a wire instead. Hood alignment still looks good.
Mounted the -68 Camaro front spoiler after some tweeks here and there! Just need to fabricate some lower supports. Don't want it to blow off when reaching 130mph:thumbsup:
Well used 50 minutes!

Fabricated a new bracket for the fresh air vent since it was missing and I couldn't find a used one anywhere. It's nice to have several Chargers in the family so I could steal measurements. And of course I dipped it in the zinc bath.
Made also a tiny holder for the hood latch wire.
Actually running out of stuff to do until the grille is painted and completed and the dashboard is in so I can start laying out the wiring.

Thank's!
Devil's in the details.. gonna be fun to start with the wiring!
Yes, the devil is in the details. And you are doing many details very nicely, so the sum of all those details should be a really nice car! Keep up the good work.

And, sätt lite fart, för faan!!! :D It'll be neat to see it running!

Found some used Kumho 335/30r18 from a Viper not far from where I live that I'm thinking of buying just to see if it fits or not?

Impressed by how strong this bostic epoxy glue is. It needs some time to cure but it's really super strong after a day or two.
Repairing cracks and adding pieces of fins here and there on the center piece.
Wondering how to solve the broken side tabs but decided to make some alu support pieces and glued them in with epoxy.
Tried to mimic the shape from pictures.
After it's cured I'm gonna melt down scrap abs plastic with aceton, make a mould out of something and sculpture the shape as good as I can.

Finalized all wiring and tested it out before transporting the dash to the workshop.
Made a plexiglass holder for a small led, powered on the dome-light circuit so it lights up the starter key when you open the door.
Trialfitted the dash. Soon I can lay out the wiring looms.

Got the ss brakelines and the last rebuild kit I was missing for the Brembo calipers so I decided to complete the front end and tighten everything up. But before that I needed to check if I could reduce the bumpsteer as planned and I have to say it was a success!
Did an initial measurement caveman style to see how far off it was and boy was it off!
7,2mm at it's worst!
Around my ride height and the likely span the suspension would travel I would have had 5mm bumpsteer, not good.
After some tests I landed on lowering the outside steering rod 15mm from it's current position. This gave me some really good results. 1,6mm at it's worst from full compression and fully raised but only 0,5mm at my likely travel span around ride height!
Really happy with this, now I can fabricate some proper bushings in the lathe and tighten everything down in the front.

Sprayed the grille centerpiece in silver after the repairs and sanding. Can't tell where the cracks were any more. Started the tedious work of masking the fins again..

Quite satisfying to fabricate stuff with the lathe.
New bushings for correcting bump steer done.

Almost done tinkering around with the grille parts now. 5 out of 7 pieces completed.
Just sprayed the silver on the headlight frames. Some simple masking and spraying black and it's finally done.

Sneaked out to the garage again.. Just had to fit the Charger emblem also, Love it.
And sprayed the light bezels black...

Obviously a lot of time to get them masked and painted, but they look great!

Grille is almost finished, trim is left to do but it seems I need to clean and zinc-plate the trim fasteners. Tested out the electric linear actuators also, looks neat.
