This is how I treat inner quarters, helps save a lot of material and protect those areas well.
I applied 2 coats of sealers, then I just dust in a light coat of base. Followed by reducing activated clear almost 1:1. Thins it out and kills the excessive gloss a bit.
Other areas potentially seen are painted properly.

Got everything in weld-thru on the edges, and put some dampening material in. I’ll be welding soon.

Not much today- found a little time to get a couple tubes of seam sealer on the floors.

A while back I removed all the old sealer it was cracked and loose. My floors were in good shape, I wire wheeled a few spots and touched them up kinda replicating the original coloring. No need to paint the entire thing.
My goal is to make a nice car I’m not afraid of. I’ve been down the nut and bolt resto road and it makes for a car I have a hard time enjoying.

Picked up another welder today. I’ve been looking for this exact one for some time now! Came with everything!!!

I’m pretty excited!

I’m almost there! Running out of things to weld. I have the 2 quarter window rear corner brackets and a little work to do on the roof seams!
This evenings progress, rear bumper supports. I tried to mimic the factory’s sloppy welds:

Pulled the windshield, I have a new one on the way. A little rust in the lower channel.

I’ll weld that all up. And repaint the top of the dash too. I’m going to use some 2k Hotrod black.

Had a hard time getting red oxide color epoxy from my usual big names. I’ve read good things about SPI on various forums so I tried their epoxy. Very nice so far.

Stripping the roof. Minor rust. Made 4 little holes with a pick. Welded those up and and cleaning the rest with some phosphoric acid.

That acid is the only sure fire way to treat rust before priming.

Been busy with some filler work on the sail panels and some epoxy. Blocked the roof and tops of the 1/4s, polyester puttied some spots, sealed the drip rails and epoxied it again this evening. Looking good!
