1969 Charger 340

Is the car going to be black?
I ask this because I see that you painted the back half of the underside that color. Graveyard Cars seems to like undercoating the cars they show on the program. I can see the appeal if the car is driven in rain and snow.

I’m using 2k Hotrod black as I do the bottom. I am only going to undercoat the wheel wells.
I know it’s supposed to be body color but I’m just not interested in making the bottom that nice. The Hotrod black cleans off very nicely, I’ve used it on frames in the past. The cars going to be R6 red- engine compartment too

Took a break to do some cab corners and rockers panels on a friends truck-

Back on the charger. Fitting the console before I tack the brackets in place. Looking good so far.

Took a pause and replaced a single circuit master cylinder with a dual on my other car.

Back on the Charger- prepping the trunk for painting

Cleaned up the filler neck, side reflectors and trunk latch. Taillight housings next.
Hopefully I’m driving this around soon!

Got the taillights cleaned up and in! Waiting on some bulbs and exhaust clamps. I have to set the rear glass, connect the tailpipes and move up to the windshield frame.
I also have a new headliner on the way while I have the glass out…

I got my headliner out. Other than a mouse nest and a lot of poop, everything’s in good shape including the bows and metal clips.
I applied some sound deadener I had but didn’t have enough for the rest.
I’m going to see what I can find locally tomorrow so I can keep going.

Headliner time- I’ve done a couple in old VW bugs and watched a pro do a couple in GM muscle cars.
Watched a couple YouTube vids and picked up some tricks.
Luckily all my bows, clips and even the wire hooks for the rearmost bow were all in good shape.

I laid it out in the sun for a half hour or so

Then I saw a great tip to mark the center of the bow with a couple layers of tape so you can feel it in the liner.

I marked the center of the material the bow goes in and worked them in to line up-

I then trimmed the end so 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inch of bow stuck thru. Sorry no pic.

In the car I started with the rearmost bow, dropping it into the clips and hooking the forward movement limiting wires around it.
I worked my way forward finishing with pulling hard to to front, against the force of those wire hooks at the back.

I finished out today with front and 2 sides and clipping them with binder clips.

So far so good. More tomorrow.

I always liked installing headliners. It really is something you can see success as you progress and the finished product, knowing you did it all yourself, is priceless.

And we’re there!

I just need to touch up the rear most lower corners and reassemble. I’m going to refinish the interior trim that goes where the binder clips are first

I’m happy with the results!

Very nice job, especially the C pillar area .

Got some insulation and interior in. Right rear window kicked my butt.

I like this duct insulation. It is more semi-permanent that the butyl based products. It has a lower-tack glue so it can be removed if you need. I’ll be putting in subframe connectors at some point too.

That window is slow, put a battery right to the motor and no issues at all. So I cleaned up the motor connector and switch, tightened up the connections and moved on. I’ll look into it later.

I got the rest of my interior in. I have new woodgrain on the way. I need to refinish the black on the console tops and around the gauge cluster still.

The other day I painted around the windshield frame. Epoxy, color, clear.

This morning into the afternoon I sanded the metal top of the dash, taped it up and hit it with some epoxy. A little while later with 2k Hot Rod black. After I removed the masking I installed the new trim clips.
I need to get out tomorrow and pickup some windshield sealer and I’ll start going on that.
