1969 heavy duty suspension

I am wondering if these shocks would have been original heavy duty equipment or if someone installed them later in life. These are "Load Leveler" brand shocks. They were on the front of my road runner. A little overkill I thought, but who knows. I cleaned them up today and have been wondering about this for a while. I thought there was no better place than here to ask.
