Looking good! Is the hood black out a decal or paint on (stencil?)

The hood is painted organisol as it would have been in 1972 using a stencil kit for the outline.

Testing gauges and harness looked good, so out it goes for some detail work. Dash pad was nos, but dyed twice in wrong shade of color, so that is getting redone while the dash frame is getting pulled out. Painting the cowl/windshield area the body shop could not get to while the dash frame was in place. Full disassembly of the dash will be done soon.

Dropping motor off next for inspection and detailing. 380HP 5.9 Magnum Crate engine with rebuilt 727 trans. was told the cam was upgraded (no specs) and should be closer to 400hp and have good freeway manners and a little more rowdy street attitude. Was an older trans as it still has a Fairbanks torque converter in it. Stock valve covers will go back on with correct year acrylic blue paint on the motor. Still not sure if it will use headers or stock manifolds at this time.

I'm still willing to ship mine over for a make over ! Your doing such a great job ! Mine is sitting neglected in the rear garage covered in stuff!
I've been bad working on this 38 caddy but I'm getting board of the caddy so I think the two are going to swap spots !

I wish I can say I was doing most of the work, but it was all being done by my buddy ‘Mopar’ Mike. Besides, after this one is done, I will still have to finish my 1970 Pro touring Cuda, 1970 pro-mod Mad Max style Charger and my pops 41’ Plymouth business coupe. So no rest (or money) for the wicked!

Well do me a solid and keep posting pics and progress ! Your giving me some want to pull mine out front and put the 38 caddy on the back burner!

Finally had a chance to update. Picked this little jem while looking for a driver while the charger is resto mode. Hope to get to it later in December. will post pics on another thread soon, so keep an eye out.

Though the u-bolts have been soaked for a week and and again in the morning, the bolts would not come out.

Ended up taking it to a local shop where two torches were put to it til it glowed and used an industrial gun on it and could only free 5 bolts. Decided to just cut them and order the correct u-bolts to make my buddy happy who is doing the installation. Sorry, forgot to take picks of it. In the meantime, getting everything cleaned enough for sandblast and coating for next week.

What a great build! I am really digging the Roadrunner too. I am not sure what your plans are for the Roadrunner but I have a pretty good center piece section of the grill if you are looking to fix that piece. I have an old thread that I will include along with a pic. If you are interested PM me and we can go from there.

Thanks , I’ll post it’s own thread later tonite. I was thinking of fixing mine but in no rush as I still trying to decide if I want to buy one of the reproduction ones coming out next year. Will have to see how the budget permits.

I’ll post the beeper in its own thread tonite as I’m currently working 600+ turkeys between two stores that have to get worked out so I may be a bit busy to post more info until I’m done. 30 years of Thanksgiving and some of the people I deal with are bigger turkeys than what I sell! :)

That's no problem, I'm not actively selling it anymore but always like to help out others when I can. If you decide you need it I will still likely have it. I didn't know that there was a reproduction 72 grille coming out. That would be awesome if there is one. I bet it will be super expensive but well worth it in the end if it fits properly.

Yes, I was talking to a vendor at SEMA that makes all the b-body grills and they had confirmed they have them and will be putting out product next year (date unknown though). Cool bud, appreciate it.

Well the rear came back from media blasting and primer coat. Left it sealed because to keep the sand out. Inside was super clean being 92k mile car. Repaint, seals and new bearing along with brake hardware has been ordered. Though it was a 3:55 but turns out to be 3:23. Not a heart breaker, but the freeway rpm’s will be much nicer though. Should be done by the weekend if the weather permits painting and all the parts arrive. Even picked up the correct u-bolts for it.
