Congrats to alsant (FBBO) for being the Top Qualifier at the Auto-Plus New England Nationals with an outstanding total of of 31.5 bonus points - just 0.5 points from perfection. He picked the #1 qualifier in Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and the #2 qualifier in Pro Stock.
bobtile (FBBO) is right behind with 31.0 bonus points.
71dartswinger, dilweed and memike are the best FABO qualifiers this week with 30.5 bonus points. Way to go all!

This week players picked:
* 7 different Top Fuel drivers. Two Round 1 head-to-head matchups. One between Tony Schumacher (2 picks) and Steve Torrence (1 pick), and one between Spencer Massey (1 pick) and Shawn Langdon (3 picks). There is also a potential of two head-to-head matchups in the 2nd round of eliminations.
* 8 different Funny Car drivers. And again two Round 1 head-to-head matchups. One between Matt Hagen (1 pick) and John Force (3 picks), and one between Tim Wilkerson (1 pick) and Ron Capps (3 picks). And, just like Top Fuel, two potential head-to-head matchups in Round 2 of eliminations.
* 5 different Pro Stock drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between - are you ready for this - Jeg Coughlin Jr. (12 picks) and Allen Johnson (3 picks). Also a possibility of 1 head-to-head matchup in the 2nd round of eliminations.
* 4 different Pro Stock Motorcycle riders. The #1 through #4 qualifiers so no head-to-head matchups in either Round 1 or Round 2 of eliminations, but all of them could meet in the semi-finals.

Some really good racing in New Hampshire today. Maybe the name of the event should have been changed to the "Hole Shot Nationals" since there were so many Hole Shot wins today.
Congratulations to Ron Capps for his first Funny Car win of the season - that was a nice belated birthday present (last Friday, same day and Courtney Force). And BIG CONGRATS to Angie Smith for her very first Pro Stock Motorcycle win ever.
Congratulations to 'tqfastfish' (FABO) for being "Top Picker Eliminator" for the New England Nationals with a very nice point total of 126.0. He picked the class winner in Funny Car, the runner-up in Pro Stock Motorcycle. His Pro Stock pick won two rounds of eliminations and his Top Fuel pick went one round of eliminations.
Jason Delling (FBBO) came in as the event runner-up with a nice point total of 121.0 with class runners-up in both Top Fuel and Pro Stock Motorcycle. His Funny Car and Pro Stock picks both won two rounds of eliminations.
'bobtile' was the best FBBO picker with 101.0 points.
Great picking! By the way, 'tqfastfish' describes himself as a "13 year old Mopar Maniac" and Jason Delling is 10 years old (see Post# 131 in this thread)! Looks like we all got schooled by the Mopar future. Isn't it great?

Here's where the bonus points were earned if you picked the right drivers:

Top Fuel
E.T. - Antron Brown, 3.770 during qualifying
Speed - Spencer Massey, 326.63 during qualifying

Funny Car
E.T. - Robert Hight, 3.988 during qualifying
Speed - Courtney Force, 323.35 during qualifying

Pro Stock

Speed - Jeg Coughlin Jr., 214.25 during qualifying

Pro Stock Motorcycle
E.T. - Eddie Krawiec, 6.794 during qualifying
Speed - Hector Arana Jr., 198.50 during qualifying

Wow - that was wild. The FBBO guys who did well had no change. The rest of us dropped.

Yeah, congrats to Angie Smith for her "win"? Seems to me that her Wally is no different than one that Matt would have won and given to her after the race. She did earn her way to the final with those great lights, though.

I went the wrong way...

Congrats to Bobtile & alsant

the trophy was going to the team either way, now Angie Smith, got her 1st ever Wally...
also Matt Smith had claimed the engine broke a rocker, is why he shut it down

Hey all -
I just wanted to let y'all know we have a new player joining our game this week. He's not from either FABO or FBBO but since he's a total Mopar gearhead I didn't think you would mind.
His name is Jason Delling and you may remember seeing him on one of the NHRA event television coverages last year. Jason is 10 years old and lives in Michigan with his aunt and uncle because he recently lost his mom. He’s a remarkable boy with a great sense of humor and a fantastic outlook. He also happens to be blind. If you didn’t see the ESPN race day coverage, Jacob lost his vision due to Retinoblastoma when he was only 4.
The TV coverage showed Jacob visiting in the Al-Anabi pits, riding in Jack Beckman's tow vehicle and joking with John Force. It was when Jacob said he was a "Mopar man" and gave Force a bad time about driving Fords that I knew I had to talk with this kid.
I mentioned Jacob at our next Inland Mopars Car Club meeting and the club members immediately decided to make him an honorary member. After some searching we finally made contact with Jacob. This kid will talk your ears off about Mopars and is very knowledgeable about them.
While talking to Jacob on the phone last week I mentioned our little FABO NHRA "Pick 'Em" game and he immediately said he wanted to play. Look out, because Jacob knows several of the drivers, crew chiefs and crew members and talks to them on a regular basis. He just may school all of us!
Here's Jacob's Gatornationals picks that he gave me by phone yesterday:
Top Fuel: Doug Kalitta
Funny Car: John Force
Pro Stock: Allen Johnson
Pro Stock Motorcycle: Matt Smith

Way to go in Epping NH, Jacob,
congrats on the Top Eliminator

Congrats to all.
Angie Smith was cutting some crazy lights.

My daughter and I think the fix was in from the get go. Angie's light was so bad (.238 after .017, .003, .009 in the first 3 rounds), it seems that she was told whatever you do don't redlight. Then he cut a terrible light, too (.090) - but not as bad as hers. So he had to let her catch up. Like Bud said, the team was going to get it anyway. I do think they wanted her to get it - especially with her having the new sponsor. Congrats to them regardless.

Here's your usual Tuesday-before-the-event reminder before the 12th race of the 2014 season, the 17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals, June 26-29, at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL.
This is the third of four consecutive weekend NHRA national events so keep up your great work in getting your picks posted in time.
As always, your picks need to be posted before Pro Qualifying starts on Friday, June 27 in order to qualify for all event bonus points. Pro qualifying is scheduled to start at 4:30PM CDT (2:30PM PDT).
The current weather forecast looks sketchy with a 40% possibility of thunderstorms Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but that may change as we get closer to the weekend. High temps in the mid 80s through the weekend.
The Route 66 entry list is posted on http://www.nhra.com/events/entrylist12.aspx and now shows 20 Top Fuel, 19 Funny Car, 18 Pro Stock and 22 Pro Stock Motorcycle entries, but the counts are still subject to change.
Keep checking http://www.nhra.com/events/entrylist12.aspx for an updated entry list.
Get your picks posted and GOOD LUCK!
