most of the qualifying I saw
was a smoke fest or shake fest, piss pour showing
not many getting down the track successfully
only a couple per class,
when the track was ripe for good runs session 2 afternoon/night
wind died, good track temp etc.
the morning session 1 'was bad' wind/head wind
& called off pretty quick
(didn't see the bikes run)

(I hate to do it, but Matt Smith has become an asshole,
even if he's posted more 200mph runs & Harleys have done well)

Here's your Tuesday before the event reminder for the 40th annual Arby's NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway Park in Commerce, GA.
Professional classes at the Souther Nationals start Friday, May 3rd.
This may be an 'iffy' event due to forecasted weather. Current forecast calling for a high temp of 80F on Friday with thunderstorms from 9AM to 2PM followed by light rain until 5PM, and then more thunderstorms through midnight. The Saturday forecast is for a high temp of 77F with thunderstorms from noon to 2PM followed by light rain until 8PM and then a short period of thunderstorms. The Sunday forecast shows a high temp of 79F with light rain from 5AM to 6PM. This very easily could see the final eliminations run on Monday - if they can get qualifying in.
The current entry list shows:
18 Top Fuel
17 Funny Car
17 Pro Stock Motorcycle

Pro Stock will again not be racing at this event. Pro Stock will return at the Virginia NHRA Nationals mid-May.

Interesting thing I noticed on the nhra.com entry list for Top Fuel is that Leah Pritchett's entry is again listed as "DSR Top Fuel Team" rather than a sponsor name.

Get your picks posted! But make sure your driver is entered to race at the Southern Nationals - there's a big name that's skipping this event for business reasons.
