Like I said, the small valve head is the same as the HP head. Grind the valve size to what you want. The bare casting is the same. The ports are the same. They are a good OEM iron head.
. I have never read that a big block Mopar 915 head was offered in a year other than 1967 and this is the first time I’ve saw someone stating they were. Are you confusing them with 516’s?The 452's had the different intake port. The 915's were available at least in '66 -67, maybe '65 and some early '68. There were 2 versions of 915, one with the small 1.60 exhaust valve and then the HP '67 with the 1.74 exhaust valve. 915's had the same intake & exhaust port as the 906, just the closed chamber. It was no problem to increase the exhaust valve size on the 915's. I did a few from the 1.60 to 1.81.

. You Sir will be the first to make that claim and I have tried to search this out and all I’m reading is that the 915’s are a one year only head introduced in 1967 in either exhaust size. I’m not saying you are wrong but you are the only claimant to this so far.No the 915 casting was used on several years. The HP 915 was used on some on the '67 cars. Plenty of low perf 915's are out there with the small exhaust valves.
I will go on record as saying,No the 915 casting was used on several years. The HP 915 was used on some on the '67 cars. Plenty of low perf 915's are out there with the small exhaust valves.
I believe you are mistaken.I will go on record as saying,
66 440s 516 head.
67 440s 915 head.
68 440s 906 and 250 heads.
Regardless of valve size.
Wouldn't be the first time! I do however have the original 516s off a 66 tnt motor. And 915s were absolutely discontinued by 68 (large chambers), so ...I believe you are mistaken.
I use 516s for things like that...2 of my OE's are running them stock, but they have other uses...

Please post references supporting your claim of 915 big block Mopar heads being offered beginning in maybe 1965 and some available in 1968 on new cars.
Galen Govier’s Parts Interchange book shows that 2780915 Heads only available in 1967.I have no references. They were on '66 cars in the small valve version, and both valve sizes in '67. I'm not knowable about when they started but '65 was a transition year for Mopar. My opinion is that some early '68's may have gotten the 915 because they were in the parts bin. I'm no expert, just thinking logically.
Well that's an opinion. My opinion is that 915's in the small valve were on some '66's and most '67's maybe into the '68 production run. But I'm not Galen.Galen Govier’s Parts Interchange book shows that 2780915 Heads only available in 1967.
