Has anyone on here put a Modular HEMI engine into one of our style cars?

I'm thinking about putting one in but other then the very plane information you get from tech article in mopar mags i can't find to much.

I'm more concerned about the transmission set up in our cars. I would be going automatic so i don't have to sink more money into this swap. Can you keep the original steering column to operate the shifting?

I'll do my best to answer your ???'s. Here we go....
1. Motor mounts from TTI
2. Factory steering is no problem
3. Factory small block trans,,,727,904....overdrive trans a500,a518 pre eclectronic
4. Have what ever year computer "flashed" (BG, Street&Performance, Hotauotwire so on to a manual trans so you can run it the engine without any problems
5. You might have to fab alittle on the shifting for the trans due to your particulat column, should be easy
6. Spacer needed from the above mentioned for the block to the trans, should be around a 100-150 maybe lees
7. lastly, check out hotrodlane.cc they have vids and pics so dont drool on the key board
8. If ya need more help, just ask, and check out my thread here on fbbo, late model hemi into early b body, it might give you some guidance

You got it.

Would this be hijacking if I asked about the transmission options for a swap? If I went to the expense of doing that, then a 6 speed auto is the way to go! Seems like a 727 would just be kinda half-assing the job?

Quicktime has a housing adapter to get a "GM" trans bolted up, Keisler has a GM trans already to go and you wont need to hack the foor or tunnel, check out what they have to offer. Now a 727 with the GearVendors over/under drive would be sweet and mostly a hell of alot cheaper than the other two that I mentioned.

"5.7 hemi" What was the engine management system you used?
I'm still blown away that the 5.7L will bolt up to the A727 but is it the big block bolt pattern or the small block pattern?

I'm using the factory computers and any SMALL BLOCK trans will bolt right up.

from what i gathered from other threads is the its the sb 727 and all the holes line up except the top hole which you don't use. and depending on the exhaust your running you need the smaller starter...

A mini starter will work just fine.

OK I've got a stumper here, I've been reading a lot (not every forum posted on the net though) but when you go carbureted, how do you adjust your timing? Is there a electronic device which you still have to plug in a tune or another way?

"5.7 hemi" Was the swap worth it to the 5.7L from what ever you had before in it? What was you ruff cost of getting the 5.7L and hooking up?

Get the MSD Hemi 6 controller, that will help you out. My car originally had a poly 315 and 727 auto, I pulled those 2 days after I got it home, and ordered a 5.7 with 5sp. auot for it. Toatl cost so far about 13000buck, but I'm doing the WHOLE car, inside out ad top to bottom.

If the swap is as easy as it sounds, why aren't more people doing it? Shivy owners started swapping to FI into older cars like crazy a few years back. Is it just a cost issue? It sounds like everythings available and Hemis can be had for under 3k on Craiglist weekly. The cost doesn't sound outrageous even with a higher end cost Hemi.

Maybe it's the thought of FI. Who knows, but more and more people are doing it now then ever before. Some things are ridiculos expensive such as headers, why do they need to cost 700 plus, it's BS. But if you wanna play, you gotta pay as the saying goes.

Newbie to the forum. I just did a Crate 6.1 and a 45rfe trans in a 70 Cuda for a customer. We used an 07 5.7 truck pcm in it. Used TTI headers (yes very overpriced) and mounts. Had to modify the floor pan to get a good drive line angle. Could go on and on . If anybody is thinking about it and have the resource I recommend it. This car runs 12s and gets 19mpg @ 4700ft. happy to help with question.

Welcome Gears! You have any experience with aftermarket [mega-squirt] EFI on a stroker motor?

I am new to this site. I was wondering what info I could get. I have a '69 Dodge Charger and just obtained a 6.1 Hemi for the swap. I was wondering if I can use the rfe545 transmission and where to get the computers and wiring I will need. I have the RMS front suspension, engine and TTi headers already. Also does the rfe545 trans require floor modifications? Any advice anyone has would be appreciated. It is too expensive to do everything twice!

I have a 392 swap instructions that was put in a 70 Challenger. But I cant seem to copy the link and put in this reply
