I am Building a dash Cluster for a 62 Plymouth. I would like to significantly improve the background lighting. I understand that to change over to LED bulbs in need to change the voltage regulator to something lower than the stock one which I believe is 5 volts? Can anyone tell me what is needed to run LEDs and where to get it? Does the lower voltage effect the gage operation?

Lighting has nothing to do with voltage limiter or gauge operation.

Has anyone simply plugged in LEDs then, and if so where did you get them?

I put LED bulbs in my '62 cluster. I also replaced the bulb sockets due to the different type/style of contacts (wire vs tab). No other mods needed. I got mine from HiPo Parts Garage .
