I need to modify my stock auto crossmember to use my 833 trans.

I had the pix and specs for the modification but lost that info when my old phone died.

Anybody have what I need?

Thanks.

Save your auto crossmember, fabricate a new crossmember. My home made crossmember:

1/4" steel plate (or aluminum) with a spool type mount.

I have a '65 4 speed crossmember if your interested.

I don't have a pic or specs, but if it's anything like the 62:

I made a 4 speed crossmember by cutting the mount off the auto one, cutting out the center of the top, drilling a hole in the bottom for the stud of the new mount. Bought the single bottom stud trans mount, same as the one in my 67 bb a-body, the mounts with the 2 studs are hard to find and ridiculous $.

493 Mike,that's a nice simple,and strong looking crossmember!

I have a 2 stud USA polyurethane trans mount and a later poly spool mount that need homes cheap.

I already have the auto xmember and a new mount... revising it to work with the 4 speed is simple but I lost all my photos when I swapped phones this year.

I could fab a new one and I have plenty of steel on hand but it's a time deal. I work 12-15 hour days and if I take on too much work I wont live long enough to drive this thing!

I'm just shy of 77!

Thanks to all.

At your age why are you still working? Or is it at home? Aren't you the boss? Good luck!

I got 68 hours on the clock in three days this week. I enjoy the driving part of my job... the traffic is another story although my usual haunts in northern WI have mostly light traffic.

I can survive on SS... but I have about six more mortgage payments on the house. And my wife bought a new truck last year so I have to pay for that!

The $$$ I saved for retirement subsidized my trucking after the economy collapse in '08... then there was the $19,000 engine rebuild in '12!

My Dad retired at 65 then stayed home and drove my Mon nuts until he went back to work. He worked until he was almost 80 doing light work as a shipping clerk.

I'm thinking about giving up the trucking deal after 54 years on the road. My local parts store is looking for help... that might work.
