Hey guys, new member. I’ll get pics up shortly. Was on the highway and felt strong vibration, exited and parked. Trans fluid pouring out the base of filler tube, probably to empty. New dipstick and 8 quarts of fluid so far, no movement in any gear. I know trans can hold 12 or so, any chance clutches aren’t fried and I just need more fluid? I haven’t even dropped the pan, afraid to look.
Thank you

What will likely need replaced? I’ve done clutches on 4l60 but know nothing about 727.

Get some reference material, study up, and tear it down. Pull the major components and set them aside until disassembly is complete. Then disassemble, repair, and reassemble each subassembly-one at a time. Wash everything like you were doing surgery. Cleanliness is absolutely necessary! Get a rebuilt torque converter and I recommend Mopar ATF-4 fluid.

What was the reading on the stick after adding new fluid?

Strong vibration and fluid pouring out? I don't think adding fluid back is going to fix it.....

Quickly loosing fluid all at once normally doesn't hurt it. Think about it. No fluid means no pressure. No pressure it can't move. If it can't move it can't slip and hurt itself. Now the vibration is another story.
