Last weekend my drivers side door latch would not open from the exterior door handle but would open from the interior handle on my 69 Coronet R/T. After removing the door panel and cycling the exterior handle everything looked good. I noticed the link on the latch was rotating about 20 degrees before engaging. The screw in the photo with the red arrow was loose. After tightening it the door cycled properly. Does anyone know the purpose of the screw and the proper torque? I could not find any reference in the shop manual. Thanks in advance for your help!

Steve,
That is the linkage adjustment lock screw.. The linkage is spring-loaded and adjusts itself when the screw is loosened. Loosen and tighten and feel the button free play tighten up.

Mike,
Thanks for the quick response, that makes a lot of sense based on how it was functioning.
