Hey everyone i found a 71 Satillite for sale for 1800 but it looks a bit rough both rear fenders are rusted out in wheel well area and its lookin like it might need some frame safe T patch work. The seller has told me that he will not nogotiate prices its a take it or leave it, but he will take some cash here and there and the car would stay there till its paid off. I have done some serching and it seams that frame repairs of that sort are pretty common amongst these cars. The only reason i want this car is because i am building a stout 5.7 hemi and i wanna put it in a MOPAR. Any tips on common rust out areas and does and donts to if i should take my chances and buy this car or if its not worth it and hold out to find somthing else. Thanks for the advice in advance.

Leave it! No way would I sink money into a plain jane satellite with frame and body issues for 1800. You can find parts cars in the same condition for less.

I paid that much for a solid driving 72 318 sat back in 2003. I towed it home fixed some inor things, then drove it daily for almost 2 years...112 mi a day too!

If your willing to travel there are tons of deals out there. The plains states and the southwest are mopar gold mines. The midwest rust belt has little to offer.

Could you post some pic's of the rusted areas? 71383bee might be rite....I have Canadian cars and 2 from Arizona trust me get something with the least amount of rust possible. The extra shipping cost will far out weigh the rust repair bills!
I'll never buy a Canadian rebuilder again just parts cars.

Are you stuck on 71-72? I've seen quite a few 73-74 in what I would consider good to very good condition in the $1500-$3500 range. It's not that 71-72 are that much higher, you just plain don't see them as often. A couple of years ago there was a 72 around here for $2500. It had some previous body work but was a Sebring 400 car in orange and white with a factory white interior with orange inserts. I should have bought that. I think AMD has full factory seam quarters for 71-72, and IIRC, except for the markers they are the same as 73-74.

I don't think that's correct. I was pretty sure like the chargers the 73/74 rears are different from the 71/72's too. I do know there is a huge difference with the rear side windows and the very end of the quarter where it wraps into the tail.

Theres quite a few 71/72 sat's out there yet, but you gotta be willing to go get them.
