Hi guys long time member not big poster, but I figure id post my current project in progress. so I bought my 1971 satellite road runner clone 4 years ago when I was 19 ( I know I'm young) and it was in running condition but not what I wanted it to be. so i began the long process of restoring the car. its currently at the halfway point and thought now was the time to share the progress with the car.

here are some shots of the car before official tear down began

Upon arrival we found out just how much this car was gonna need. after peeling through about an half inch of bondo and heavy paint coats the car was pretty rough. bottoms of quarters and fenders were mostly bondo and rust along with heavy pitting and crushed panels around the wheel-wells. but atleast we knew were we stood.

Looking good....I love yellow Roadrunners.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I'm surprised I didn't see this earlier. That's going to good in yellow. What color stripe are you going with?

black roof stripe, 383 hood is coming soon with inserts and strobe pattern. taking of the air grabber off until i can complete it

Nice car, looks in solid shape. That will keep you busy!

Looks like your doing a great job, keep up the good work!

Do you work at that shop?

thanks for all the positive feedback guys! and no I dont work at the body shop but am good friends with them. I cant do body work (and I want it done right) but i took the car apart and rebuilt the motor/ will rebuild the rest of the car on my own. pretty much everything apart from the body work is done by my father or myself.

Major update Car received first coat of paint.

A major milestone has been achieved in the restoration process... the bird got some color!!!! This really brought the whole project into perspective. Reached the legitimate halfway point. Now everything starts going back into the car.

Wow, very nice. I can't wait to see it finished. I haven't seen a Black Flag t-shirt since high school :headbang:

Thanks for starting a thread (always liked the early 2nd Gen RR & Satellites). Looking really good.

Nice. Looking forward to more updates. Love the 71 up B body styling by John Herlitz. Partial to Yellow too. image.jpg

Lol Forgot I started this thread... I guess i should update progress. I will try to retell all events as they have happened since last post. car is nearing completion. apart from the constant one step forward 2 back with everything on this car its finally getting close... well the car did make it back from the body shop in late 14' it looked so good to see it out in the sun and in its true color for the first time after all the body work and paint was completed.1450157_10205410988413151_6437835545842736768_n.jpg1471107_10205410988973165_8886379063473922433_n.jpg10313211_10205410988133144_2042011069186154081_n.jpg10557334_10205410989453177_2788993411861079524_n.jpg10670061_10205410987853137_1145551267678325451_n.jpg10686753_10205410988693158_986709996599852857_n.jpg10710763_10205410989213171_2598022397418055096_n.jpg

Since then the car has returned to my house. We started working on installing new parts and old parts that can be reused.
more to come.
