74 Charger Rallye 440 TX9

Once the bumpers were done and I got all the trim striped it was off to my body guy. The car was straight and rust free so it was lots of blocking. 3 months and $7500 later it was delivered with fresh base, clear TX9.

Yup, 3 months. This guy is good and fast. At the price he is doing this work I will let him handle it. It would have taken me a year, LOL!

Today I stripped, polished, and painted the door belt moldings. Got the drivers door handle, latch, lock, and mirror installed. My new Milwaukee 12v buffer is my new favorite tool.

Good chance my 74 Road Runner is going down that way (northern SC) for a bit while I try to figure out where we're moving to.

I may hit you up for the contact of your shop, because that is stupid cheap and fast for an all-over paint job that's even half-way decent.

I bought my 74 440 Rallye in 1987 for $600 and drove it home, but I gotta say $4k for a 4x black, straight, rust free one is a helluva deal today. ..... and why your paint cost/time was so reasonable. Good choice on a car! These are great cruizers.

Just let me know. They are in Myrtle Beach.

Got the passenger door mirror, belt molding, door handle, and lock installed. The car did not come with a right mirror but I wanted to add it. I mirrored the left mirror holes and drilled away.

I had to wet sand the area between the vinyl top and drip trough moldings. Knocked it down with 1000, then 1500, 2000, 2500, and trizact 3000. Two passes with Meguiars 110, then two with 205 and its as nice as the rest of the car. Now the vinyl top can go on.

Just finished the rear belt moldings. Had 30 year old masking tape residue on them still witch fortunately was good to the chrome. The drivers side had some pits I ground out and filled. Polished them up and primed and painted argent. They came out pretty nice for 50 year old pieces. I also installed the fender turn signals and hood pin bezels.

Pulled the passenger seat out today and this is the remnants. Previous owner had a stash that must of slipped out of reach. Bet its been there over 30 years. Bonus is a second full broadcast sheet under the seat bottom!

LOL, I am not trying it though. I wonder if the label being sideways like it is from heat cool cycles and it vibrating under there laying face down.

Ordered a new headliner on Saturday from Legendary and it just arrived.

Who do you know at Legendary?!?! lol
I guess if they have the materials they bust it out quick! Meanwhile the door panels I ordered months ago are still in limbo.

I was able to remove the broadcast sheet from under the seat with only on crumb falling off. This one is fragile. I will work on it with some books.
