I've got a question for any of you guys that have installed a small block Air-Gap Intake and carb. I finally installed my Air-Gap intake and Edelbrock 600cfm carb this weekend and have run into a slight conversion problem. The engine was originally a 318 2bbl car, and I'm finding that the 2bbl linkage won't fit the Air-Gap correctly. The linkage bracket is to shallow to be bolted up to the intake and the Edelbrock is of coarse much wider and higher up than the 2bbl. I'm sure several of you probably have this set-up, so what linkage would work for this application?.... would a stock small block 4bbl linkage work? Below are some pics of where I left off yesterday (the wife took the good camera for the weekend so they are crappy camera phone pics). Note that the one showing the linkage is not bolted but just sitting on the intake. Any help or direction would be great fellas... Thanks!

You are going to be fabricating something or buying an aftermarket cable setup. Even the factory 4 BBL linkage parts won't get you there because they are designed to work with the carb as it's located by the factory intake manifold. Here is a useful tip. A slant 6 throttle cable is longer than the V8 version and should give you more felxibility in modifying your existing bracket. Also make sure the throttle pressure is hooked up and working properly.

I actually just found a good deal and ordered a complete aftermarket kit with braided steel 24" throttle (hope that works) and kickdown cables for the 904 transmission. Bracket and springs were included that just bolt to the carb. I think it may be a Lokar type or knock-off. This is good because I figured I would also run into kickdown problems anyways. This kit should lend itself well to keeping the inake a little cleaner as well. Thanks Meep-Meep for the tip I-6 throttle tip and for always helping answering any questions!

I ended up doing some Fab work like MeepMeep said, but I'd be interested in knowing if the kit you bought works for you. Come back and give us all the scoop. Cell phone pics too.
