Another intake thread

I’m running a totally stock 69 440 and the factory air adds noticeable weight and I can feel it in the handling. I want the least change in appearance and fit and to lose the weight so this was the solution.
The Mopar M1 dual plane does not have the intake runner indentation on the number 3 cylinder for the AC bracket clearance.

I also wanted to add the intake I referenced uses the 71 bubble choke, might that mean it’s a copy of the vaunted 71 cast iron rig?

There is definitely some confusion on what some folks believe about this intake.

It is a turd that is no better than the 1967 & up hp intakes.

Yes, you told us it won’t work with AC. Not sure why? Also not sure who said it was some super intake for performance.

Even if it is the BEST factory intake there is,it has no place on a stroker outside of a heavily ported F.A.S.T engine.

Wish I could find the hot rod article with the numbers. Nobody ever said it was the best, buts it’s definitely not a turd. IIRC it was in the top 5 of the ones they tested for HP and TQ and its numbers were in the same ball park. I’m willing to give up a little HP and Tq to run my dual snorkel air cleaner if I have too. The point of this thread was all about keeping my dual snorkel air cleaner and what intake if any could I use, and if no replacement intakes would work would it be so bad to keep the iron intake. Especially if I ported and polished it. Try to stay on topic and help.

You aren't going to make 600-700 hp with one of the dual plane intakes unless the intake is cut apart and ported by a pro. That is what the FAST guys do. It works but it costs a small fortune.

Then look for an aluminum version of the cast iron, maybe Mopar Performance version and build your motor around its specs. Maybe not as high HP as you want but will retain your dual snorkel and a still street/strip motor

get another stock dual snorkel air cleaner and cut and modify to make it work on a rpm performer intake or intake that makes power.
Do you have any instructions on how to cut the stock dual snorkel to make it fit? A lot of suggestions in this thread about doing that but I haven’t seen any solutions.

buy an Edelbrock #1221 air cleaner just need the base only. need to cut out the base so it fits over your 3 inch or so tall air filter. need to measure the diameter of the air filter you would need for your top to fit over the filter and also fit over the Edelbrock base. K&N air filter has many sizes.

It's called hotrodding/ modifying/ customizing. Nobody has yet to to worry about utilizing a stock restrictive aircleaner on a 700hp engine, so it's uncharted territory. Time to bolt on the thinking cap.

the air cleaner will have an open base that will let more air in plus get rid of the flaps in the snorkels. you could also drill some holes in the back third of the air cleaner facing the firewall to let more air in.
