If you're going to reproduce something take 20 more minutes and get it right.
20240331_133800.jpg

Rear arm rest ashtrays cleaned up nicely in Evaporust
20240331_135200.jpg

On to door handles, locks and linkages.
20240331_141611.jpg

How not to fight that gasket spinning around during install.
20240402_094716.jpg

Good to go.
20240402_094930.jpg

Mixed up some JB for between the door skin and handle reinforcing plates.
20240402_100821.jpg

Ready to slap in place with one hand while trying to install the handle mechanism with the other.
20240402_101018.jpg

Done and done. Lightly snugged until the JB sets up.
20240402_101459.jpg

We have a handle. Next was key lock tumbler and all internal linkages. Repeat for the drivers side door..

Door glass rear edge channel guides ready to go into doors.
20240402_130416.jpg

Taped the paint.
20240402_132506.jpg

Regulator ready to go into place loosely.
20240402_133717.jpg

Just set in place until door glass assembly goes in.
20240402_133810.jpg

Working up the nerve to work this into place.
20240402_134457.jpg

Turn to get the vent frame lower fork in first, then the front mounting fork. Glass needs to be lowered a bit so the anti rattle wedge can get below the one in the rear channel and then carefully work the assembly into place without chipping paint. Then regulator unbolted and worked forward so you can get the roller into the window lift track, then reinstall so you can crank the window up and down.
20240402_135944.jpg

Window up full to get things squared up and carefully close the door to check. Snug.. loosen..adjust... snug.
20240402_140344.jpg

Glass upstop going into place.
20240402_141201.jpg

Plastic in hole, then tighten screw to spread the tabs. Then crank the window back up to top and tighten rear channel bolts up.
20240402_141305.jpg

Down stop adjuster. Needs to be backed off so the window goes lower than static position so that you can install catwhiskers.

Full access to slots for the catwhisker tabs.
20240402_141638.jpg

Catwhiskers. Outer, inner and the little gap filler rub.
20240402_142925.jpg

Tabs going into slots. Get them all started and carefully work them in, or you'll bend the strip.
20240402_143325.jpg

Little gap filler rub you'll find missing on many cars.
20240402_143456.jpg

Whiskers and rub in place.
20240402_143604.jpg

Ready to bring the glass back up flush and then lock the down stop adjuster.
20240402_143803.jpg

Door end seal.
20240402_150029.jpg

Seal installed.
20240402_150208.jpg

On to door glass number two.
20240402_152803.jpg

Getting good at this...

Adjusted the rear channel guide to give a nice tight fit of the door glass to the quarter glass.

I couldn't agree more. There are billions of fonts available and easy text editing software to allow exact reproductions to be made fairly easily and quickly.

...and yet we get substandard crap! WHY??? :cursin:

Handle reinforcements.. Did you make them? Or is someone selling them? Is there also a mirror reinforcement?

Nice work Wayne....coming together nicely now.

Very nice Wayne. You could scan the original and print it on label stock to maintain the original look.

No generator?
Two of them. A 4500 in house garage and a 6000 in the hangar. Can't be bothered until I know the fridge needs it. That and never too old for candle lite chesterfield rugby!

Today's gonna be another story, out since 3am. Wife just went to get GD1 and no estimate when we get power back. Out at Daughter's as well..

Cord seal around perimeter and above areas that get penetrated.

Tacked two layers of plastic down to my famous TV box and then pattern. Cut out vapor barrier for both doors with an xacto knife.
20240404_145905.jpg

Drivers vapour barrier stuck in place, tucked into the bottom slot and taped with Black paper tape just like factory.
20240404_152356.jpg

Vapour taped at bottom.
20240404_152407.jpg

Same deal on passenger side..
20240404_153618.jpg

Barrier in place
20240404_155027.jpg

Door car trim given another quick run through the buffer wheels.
20240404_160013.jpg

Stainless trim in place with 4 × #8 screws
20240404_160346.jpg

Dug through old spares to find a good retainer clip for every hole.
20240404_161613.jpg

Both door cards in place. Arm rests, cranks and door pulls tomorrow. Hopefully kick panels and new door sills also to complete the interior.
