How would one know if the carburetor is to big for one’s build
I have a Quick fuel 830 cfm on my 450cu. Stroker 383 dyn. at 530 hp. at the crank
Trying to dial in carb that is running to rich. AF is 11.9 at cruising speed, 76 main jets.
Plugs are black. MSD ignition 14 degree initial 35 total all in at 3500
Was told carb to big , 750 holly better match

Thx Bill

It's not the airflow "CFM" or cubic feet/minute rating.
The engine draws as much air as it's pumping.
At idle the engine takes very little CFM.
Your carb needs to be tuned for the engine.
You need to shoot for around 13.5-14.0 for cruise.
