Chris Birdsong. aka JunkerUp

There are compelling arguments on both sides.
Theoretically, you could replace almost every part around the VIN and fender tag and technically have NOT swapped the numbers.

it was a 73 Duster /6 car... if you look on youtube he made a video on a bunch of cars in a impound yard that he was selling, nothing special kinda cars.. i bought the pale yellow Duster towards the end of the video, the one with the dented roof, no option car, plain and simple.... im making it into a 340/727 8.75 console , buckets, ralley dash with a bunch of suspension upgrades.. i wanted a daily driver and this was a perfect car for that.. im also changing the look too, it will be a 71 clone, already did the rear and have the parts for the front end, fenders, hood ect...
I remember that car when he got it from junkyard, good to see its gettin restored.

I agree that the man has skills. He sure can drive too.
He has stirred up some controversy before though. He clearly knows the 68-70 Charger very well and knows how to reconstruct them to look as if they have never been apart.
Years back at DC.com, there was a thread topic on rebody jobs. I don't have all the details but I do recall Chris defending numbers swaps based on his belief that if he has the clear title to both cars that swapping numbers is not illegal.
I argued that it is illegal....in each and every one of the 50 states.
I see his point. You have two cars with legitimate titles. One is a clean 318 model, the other is a wrecked and rusty 440 or Hemi car. Why not save the Hemi car? After all the model specific equipment is installed, it might as well be a legit car, right?
I know that I'd be really pissed to find out that a car I bought is a fake.
Do you build a car for yourself and bury yourself in it when you die?
No. Cars get sold, The truth gets buried. A fake car could go through multiple owners that had no idea that the car was bullshit.

He’s got some damn good skills. Learned a lot from watching his videos

yup I remember that debate...I love that AMD makes 90 percent of the panels to rebuild these cars but none of those panels have original chrysler part numbers or fit like the originals Either. So it’s either have 90 percent Taiwan repop metal or if you are lucky enough to find an ok body that has been stripped of its dash (which happened a lot, I have a few aswell I found) I would hands down use that body to fix a rotted hulk of a car. Be it rebodied with Taiwan metal or rebodied with a chrysler donor body who cares...I for one would rather have the donor body, It’s most better...my opinion of course. It may not be the original body but atleast it shares the same DNA from the plant that originally built them 52 years ago

I'm surprised that they have yet to build a replacement body like Dynacorn did with the Challenger.

only problem with repop bodies is the original parts don’t fit well. Plus they’d be more expensive to build piece by piece vs having a real car that just needs tons of metal work. People would just be slapping on their vins to the new bodies just like ford and Chevy repops.

Compare Chris to Uncle Tony and you'll see a one guy that builds junk and another that builds cars!
Tony is entertaining but has he ever built anything that you'd drive anywhere?
The guy built a ******* slant six Miata.

Hey Chris, good to "see" you man.
For those who aren't familiar with Chris, you've GOT to check out his YouTube channel - not only does the
man have talent few possess, but he has a work ethic second to none as well.

Chris, I saw recently you were asking for ideas on how to make the YT channel more viable and I agree - given
your notoriety within the hobby (especially with the "Freiberger bunch") and your impressive talents, your
YT channel should be a LOT bigger than it is - and therefore, producing more revenue for you.
It's damn near criminal the channel doesn't have a half million subscribers or more by now...
A couple things come to mind on that subject, at least to me:
1. Those guys who are obviously benefitting from your talents could be doing a better job of promoting you
and your channel to their masses of viewers - that would be only fair of them to do so.
2. Unfortunately (and I'm sure you know this one already), you'd also have to dedicate a lot more time and
effort to "producing" the channel (and yeah, it takes TONS of time to edit and so forth) - a leap of faith on
your part really, anticipating a return on investment of your time.

The channels that have gone "huge" in Mopar world have a combination of a)professional money invested
(paying for pro production crews) and b)the backing of some heavy hitters in the industry.
Honestly, though? I've always subscribed to your channel because you're not either of those - your channel
is honest and has integrity, not to mention ridiculously good information and your talents showcased.
I hope you can find a way to make more money at it while still maintaining that integrity and that you never
"Sell out"!
See you over on YT...

I agree to a point. But, do you remember when Roadkill was a fun watch? Do you remember when they moved to commercial TV? The content was good but when you have a TV channel pushing you to do stupid **** then you end up like Mark Worman on GYC. I would love to see Chris get his just deserts. But on the other hand I would hate to see him get chewed up by modern media. I'd say just let it happen when it happens. The true car guys know about him. He has way "more better" content than GYC he does **** for real and explains it. And if something is junk or cheap he will tell you about it. Unlike some people that are sponsor whores. I'd say keep it real and keep it to your fans that dig your content.

lol yeah it’s me Chris birdsong, I’m no different than any of you guys though. Just trying to make ends meet but still playing with Mopars in between
I never once thought you were above anyone. Compliment? Anyhow I watch your channel because of stuff like when you put the 360 In Minty and the lifters wore out. You didn't hesitate to call out CompCams and their chinese junk. Like when I posted a video of a Hughes performance transmission that was brand new and puking all of the fluid out of the front pump. They wanted me to pay to ship it back to them from Atlanta to Phoenix AZ. I was like hell no and posted the video. They saw it and asked me to take the video down and said they would make it right. Anyhow Keep it honest and you will always have at least one fan.

Another fan of Chris here, I really like the detailed metal work! And the adventures of ripping a car out of overgrown trees or cross-country is cool.

You may not understand it - but you just entirely agreed with what I posted.
