difference in color FE5 and E5?

As said above all the pigments changed so it s different ballgame trying to get the colors correct today. 1985 was the old materials.

Thanks for asking these questions and posting photos. I am contemplating painting FE5 this summer. Hopefully they will get it close when they mix it. Since I'm not trying to match an old color, close will be good enough for me.

luckily I have the bottom side of the trunk lid and radiator support that is not primed/painted yet so they can get it matched.

Yes was told when I first started at a shop light colors light primer, dark colors dark primer
Was it that way in the mid 60's? I was rubbing out the paint on a 66 Belvedere that was about 3 years old. The car was about 3-4 years old and I rubbed too much and black showed up....

The 1st letter indicates the Year, F is for the year 71.. E is for 70..
Note that Mopar did change tints year from year, also even though the paint code
may be the same there were slight differences between each assembly locations..

Just my $0.02...

Sorry but I believe E69 F70 and so on

Hmmm..
In 1970 B5 was tagged E-B5..

Further digging discloses...
The 1st letter designation is tied to year of that specific paint code color introduction, not the car model year. For example, my 1970 Plymouth RoadRunner has E-B5 which was 1st introduced in 1969 and carried over in to 1970....

Now you've got it. You've got a (E) 69 paint on your 70 rr. Then in 71 (G), B5 formula was changed slightly, so now GB5.
